...and please vote in the EBR Parish Mayor-President runoff election.

Your vote determines the next Parish President.

Please cast your vote for Steve Carter.

If nothing else... just so we can stop studying the negative trends affecting our area and maybe start fixing them

A vote for steve carter is a vote for maybe slightly better than the status quo. That might not be something worth getting excited about, but it’s something. Carter wants to lift covid restrictions on businesses and make significant changes to BRPD. He still is in favor of the idiotic mask mandate, but Carter would be a noticeable upgrade over the current Mayor/President. I know that’s not saying much, but it’s worth 10 minutes of your Saturday.

ETA: if you’re a Republican, elections for state central committee rep is also on the ballot tomorrow.

There are a few metro council seats in the run off as well

There is also the amendment to allow people from out of state to be appointed by the Governor to board of supervisors

quote:

Do you support an amendment to allow the governor to appoint a person who resides out-of-state to serve as an at-large member of a public postsecondary education board of supervisors? (Amends Article VIII, Sections 6(B)(1), 7(B)(1), and 7.1(B)(1))

My wife and I will be going to vote for Carter tomorrow morning. I think Broome wins again but we'll do our part.

I genuinely don't understand why people in EBR wouldn't early vote in nearly every election.

Tomorrow I vote around the corner from my house

Because early voting locations aren’t always more convenient or quicker to get in and out of than election day polling places. Plus, non-federal elections are held on Saturday.

I suppose there are some exceptions, but I have to think the average person, between work and errands, passes within a couple of minutes of an early voting location during the *week* that it's available.

If you're the exception, then that makes sense.

This is me. I can literally walk to my polling place and be in and out in 5 minutes.

Why would I drive across town and wait in line to vote elsewhere?

For whatever reason the lines were super long for early voting this year, in November and this past week. I voted on election day in November and I was 2nd in line. Decided I'd do the same tomorrow.

Early voting lines were *crazy* this year for November. All day, every day. At least downtown. I know the archives weren't much better, either.

For these runoffs, there were open voting machines when I walked up.

EBRP Republicans are at a big disadvantage in parishwide elections from a demographics standpoint now.

As someone who doesn't live in Baton Rouge, I don't know how in the hell someone like Broome won in the first place. I watched the final debate last night...woof. She seems like she has absolutely no idea what she is doing. I will pray for y'all.

But it all comes down to turnout.

Carter has run a completely invisible campaign with zero energy, ambition, or vision, so I’m assuming he’s about to go down bigly, but what do I know?

Her opponent last time was a chucklefrick, as were most of the people running. She still wasn't the right choice, but it was easy to see why she won.

Other than mailers, he's been a ghost, as least as far as I've seen.

Forrest Park is the closest location for me and the line looked pretty long the other day when I passed by. Not as bad as in November but still pretty long.

I don't know anything about the 16th Senatorial race - French, Guffey and Talbot. They are all Republicans. The only one I've heard of is Talbot. Anyone have any insight here?
