You're still here? You need some bus money or something?

Chillis is about as trashy as it gets

The vote is close, but I think trashy is going to take it.

What exactly is trashy about it? It's just a restaurant. I could see not taking your wife there on your anniversary. but if it's just a normal Saturday and you want to stop in and grab some lunch while you're out doing your normal running around, what's wrong with it?

never went. They still have those around?
BR location shut down a couple of years ago. I never went to the one here though. I used to eat it all the time when I was flying.

I'm mostly fricking with people in here, I don't think eating at a chain, in and of itself, is trashy. I do think there are more trashy people that eat chains, on average.
Chains serve a purpose. They are consistent (consistenly mediocre is fine for some people), and usually convenient.
They are also good for smaller towns that just don't have a lot of options.
I am fine with them, also, because they keep trash away from good local spots where I can eat significantly better food for virtually the same price.

Back in my day, you could even smoke in these places. It was white-trash Mecca.
In some you still can. Went to tgi Fridays in Katy Tx and there were smokers everywhere

Only Ruby Tuesday I have seen in a while is on the highway in Natchez. That was a while ago, though, so I'm not sure if it is still there either.

I'm not going to call it "trashy", but I don't go to Chilis (or any national chain really) because I can generally find a local place at the same price point with better food and atmosphere

I'd love to see some of the chain bashers in an airport, struggling to find a "local" place to eat, and resorting to chilis

I usually research an airport before hand and see whats decent in a terminal.
But there is a difference between eating at Chilis in an airport, where you are essentially held hostage with your options, and choosing to go there on a Saturday night in the New Orleans area.

Exactly. They sound like a bunch of hipster douches who think where they go eat lunch on a fricking Thursday in the middle of July says anything about who they are as a person.
Like i said, I can see having a preference for a local restaurant (I take my wife and kids to a local place every Sunday after church). But to assign a tag of "trashy" to a place just because it's part of a national chain? That's just stupid and smacks of hipster douche-bag.

If someone wants to eat at a restaurant, I don't see what makes that trashy. It's just food

When I think about Golden Corral, I think about 70 yr old retirees who eat dinner at 5 PM. Past that, what about it is "trashy"?
