Who wins?

Here they are in action against other opponents. The murder hornet seems to have a lot of armor for repelling stings and bites from large insects. It's also really good at biting the heads off of things, as this is what it regularly does to bees.
Asian Giant Hornet (Murder Hornet) vs Praying Mantis
while America's tarantula hawk has a sword of a stinger and also defeats prey much larger than itself.
Tarantula Hawk Wasp VS Desert Tarantula
The tarantula hawk also has paralyzing venom, and is one of a handful of insects that are rated a 4 on the Schmidt sting pain index
I honestly don't know. I guess it would depend on how well the hornet's armor protected it against the wasp's long stinger, because the wasp looks more tenacious. If so, hornet. If not, wasp.

My flip flop. It turns 3D bugs into 2D bugs in an instant.

If it hasn’t happened yet, I predict there will be a comic book villain named Murder Hornet in the near future.

Where's Pecker when you need him?

Murder hornet wins that one.
A better fight is the murder hornet vs the executioner wasp.

Thanks for sharing. Nightmares guaranteed after seeing these two pain machines.

It's got a hard sting, but I'm not sold on its ability to kill bigger stuff.

Yeah, a fly buzzed into my office a few minutes ago and I hit the deck like I had just heard an air raid siren.

This is reminiscent of something one might see in a Japanese horror flick.

I mostly dated WASPs in school, nice women.
So the hornet.
So the hornet.

This guy seems to think it's the wasp.
