I have large bulbs and would like to make them all stick out straight, but don't want to put holes in the material around the door.

I'd just use small finishing nails. Doubt those holes would even be noticeable

I've read that a hot glue gun works. Google it

I have the same set up and I used a staple gun. The holes aren't noticeable when I remove the staples each year.

Get some command hooks. The adhesive is good but won't damage the material it's applied to. They make all different kinds.

That's because you're worse off than Timmy from South Park... You're not running either, or walking, or... You get it

Just using the hooks doesn't give you the straight line of lights. I use hooks with hot glue on every 3rd bulb or so, so it doesn't look shitty
