Easiest way to find moving/loading help

Have some stuff I’m moving from another city to where I’m at now. Not much, but going from a studio apt on the 3rd floor (no elevator) so a few items I just can’t get alone. Once it’s here, I have enough help to move it in the house.
I just don’t know anyone well enough there i’d ask for help. Hiring city - city movers seems a bit excessive considering it’s just a bed, washer/dryer, chest, etc I’d need help with.
Anyone face this scenario? Any ideas on someone I could just give some cash to for less than an hour to help me load the few items up? Could do it all myself with a dolly if it weren’t for the 3rd floor situation.

Not sure where you live, but there are moving companies that will just help you pack up your stuff. Either that or find some HS/college kids and pay them to do it

You make 158k a year and can't be bothered to hire a couple movers? Damn.
Simplest solution is to swing by the local home depot and pick up a couple illegals.

I don’t mind swinging by Home Depot and offering an illegal $100 to help me for an hour but have always wondered how one goes about that. How do you know they’re hanging out for work vs just a normal Mexican shopping?
Professional movers are too expensive for me just needing a hand with a handful of items.

Uhaul has movers...pretty decently priced too

Here’s what you need to get your stuff moved-

You don't go in the store for a Mexican.
Every home depot has a tree or two out near the edge of the parking lot where they congregate. There will be a bare patch of grass and worn down earth. If you see someone sitting there, they're looking for work. If you see some empty make-shift benches on 2x8s and CMUs, then they've all been hired for the day. Download google translate on your phone and you're good to go.

Put up a craigslist ad. Offer money and beer and im sure youll have some college kids eager to damage some walls and furniture for a day.

LOL at this guy walking around inside a Home Depot and asking random Mexicans “¿Quiere trabajar?”

You can get movers/loaders through Uhaul. I am not sure how it works if you do not rent a truck from them.

A number of times I have called on the furniture delivery guys at Haverty's Furniture. They know what they are doing and are quick about it.

If you go the illegal route, Bottomlandbrew summed things up well. If you go legal, obviously it costs more but at least one person on the crew (if not all) will speak English reasonably well.
If you provide the truck they'll come over and load it for you. Then you can drive the truck to your destination and hire another crew to unload.
I've done this twice and consider it money well spent.

On Uhaul.com, you can hire movers. I did it when I moved to Miami and they unloaded my 26 ft uhaul in 2 hours. 200 bucks

If you don’t know how to pick up a Mexican at Home Depot for work you must be really pitiful at picking up women in grocery stores.

Looks like services thru UHaul are the best bet. $120/2 hours. That’s prob worth it.
