Government has killed more people than any organized religion.
It's also pretty comical how defensive people get over Christianity on this site. As if it's blasphemy to point out some of the flaws.

Well, well, well,......what we have here is somebody who conveniently left out what happened 900 years ago. What about THOSE Christians? Huh! HUH!

You'd be wrong. World Wars I and II for example.

Christianity >>>>> Islam. I'm agnostic.
I find it humorous when progressives fall all over themselves defending or deflecting from Islam when it's treatment of their pet protected groups is far worse than any other religion.

Which is a far point. People go out of their way to not offend the followers of Islam. When it's fairly obvious that the extreme followers do not give a shite and will keep preaching the same extremist views no matter what.

In truth, the average follower of any religion is more attached culturally than spiritually. They're all fairly benign at the core. We're judging them based on the loud, violent minority. Even islam.
The most violent members of the islamic extremists are more attracted to the violence than the religion. However, the money and backing is coming from mainstream sources.

Religion is a farce, a tool designed by the powerful to control people. Fortunately we've grown to a level at least in America where I don't have to give a shite about it.

I didn't want to make comparisons between Christians and Muslims because I do think that Islam needs a shite ton of reform.
I was more alluding to how Christianity has had some pretty dark times in its past. I'm not talking about present day Christianity.

Which is completely irrelevant to the thread

I don't subscribe to this as well. Religion is a very powerful tool indeed, but I'm slightly optimistic. If it's more for the betterment of yourself and how you act towards your community, then it's definitely not the worst thing to happen to mankind. It's when it's used for persuasion, control, subordination, power, etc., then that's the perversion of religion.

That's a terrible comparison though.
The world back then was horribly violent. Religion was violent. People were violent.
Can't compare back then to now.

Maybe so, but I think the message of Islam has gotten lost. You can say the same about Christianity back in the Middle Ages through the Renaissance. I do think there is good in Islam as it's built on fundamentally sound pillars (prayer, alms, profession of faith, fasting during the holy month, and a pilgrimage to their holy city). The Muslim world was an incubator of information and knowledge back in the day before the Mongols invaded.
People have just been fricked in the head by what they think religion is (especially Islam), and it's not until it's fundamentally changed that it can return to what it was.

How about carry your dumb arse to Dearborn, walk through town and get back with us about who the issue is really with. What a liberal Moron you are
I know how you feel but it's time for us to release the "liberal vs conservative" mindset. It's all of us against the enemies of civilization and that includes vapid progressives and retrograde Islamists.

What goes on in Dearborn that would require constant news coverage?

By the mid 1980s, 1 out of 4 human beings who ever lived was alive in the 20th century. How many people Hitler, Stalin and Mao along killed?

So I guess you live in fear every Sunday driving past the local Baptist Church right?
I don't drive scared past mosques neither. I think it's very close minded to go off your rocker for every nut out there. And like I said, I do think that there are preachers of Islam that send a very sick message, but you shouldn't shun others away because of that.
That backwards logic only isolates Muslims that aren't here to destroy the world. And yes, I'm not denying that Islam isn't destructive, because that's very apparent that it can be. What you don't see is the opposite side, where families are destroyed, tormented, hasted, etc., for having a different culture.

I briefly wondered this too, but not enough to google or ask

I lived in Dearborn for 4 years and there was never anything on the local news regarding muslims and crime or terroristic planning shite. Now you would have your local thug getting killed just like you hear on the news in NOLA. Makes you wonder if theyre really that discreet and covert or it is a big media cover up.

Us vs Them. Divide and conquer. Create the enemy that the human ego seems to need so desperately. Religion was created to disempower the masses and concentrate power into the hands of a few. It's amazing to me that so many on this planet still fail to see that. Beliefs conditioned into your subconscious mind as a child are hard to bring to conscious awareness and eradicate. It takes courage and persistence to expose conditioned religious beliefs to the light of conscious awareness and dissolve them. Many are coming into this awareness but the lunatic fringe of these God cults are proving to have the loudest voice.
