If you had to ballpark it, how much money would you say that we waste sending dumb people to college?
It's way more than $3.50.

what an original thought. You must have a college degree to have such learned insight.

I would not have learned to think such independent thoughts at college.

I guess it depends on whether you pay taxes or not.

You could probably cut the college number in half, send those people to the same type of jobs they're working now, and there would be very little difference.
When I got out of school I worked for a federal agency for a bit, and I worked on a floor with people who basically looked at 5-10 applications for a program a day (probably 5 pages each) to assess whether roughly 12 very simple requirements were met. Then they prepped an approval/denial letter in a program that does it all for them. If you put me on a timer, I could easily knock out 10 in an hour.
These people made 60-80k a year and a lot of them had masters degrees from really shitty schools (but probably reasonably high cost). The private sector is better, but there is still an emphasis on degrees for relatively simple positions. I don't entirely blame them, they have to use a hierarchy of some sort, but it's still a total waste.

Not enough imo. If they're dumb college will make them smarter.

They're wasting either taxpayer money or their own, but really both, due to inflated pricing associated with government backed loans.

Every penny not spent in a STEM field is a waste of money

You have to have people on your school's athletic teams.

"There are a lot of dumb people at college"
Are you pedants really taking issue with that sentence? You may be over educated.
