COVID could actually kill some of these folks after a transplant.
Sure, but we all know by now that the vaccine won't stop that from happening.

You mean the rule that’s been standard long before COVID? They just added the COVID vaccine to their long list of required vaccinations for potential organ receivers.
This is so ridiculous

I thought you were smarter than that Boo. How disappointing

Sure but they have to set policy based on the best risk analysis info they have

If you can’t see that the vaccine will offer some protection (which is better than none) to someone that will forever now be vulnerable to any virus or infection because of the meds you have to take to prevent your body from rejecting your donated organ….

I know more than one Dr. who questions if the vaccine actually helps or protects against Covid.

Guess we'll just discard all data on the subject since you know a couple of doctors who are unsure about it

Ignorance still going on. Back when places started to require vaccine the only thing that would have made a little sense was just not going by a positive test especially ones through fall of 2020 when tests were going to 40CT which showed non-replicating fragments as positives above 33CT and results were positive or negative without CT reported, but even with proper quantitative antibody tests available vaccine still forced on those with natural immunity developing. Natural immunity produces S protein (spike) and N protein responses where as the vaccine produced S protein response (originals at least). To ignore the natural antibodies you are hoping vaccine pushes body to create is dumb. To ignore that with 14 year old kid needing a transplant is criminal.

There is just as much data that contradicts.

Ask your Dr friends if they advise not taking vaccines required to be put on the transplant list for someone approaching renal failure in need of a transplant. If they say anything beyond they would strongly recommend that anyone who is immunocompromised and will be for life needs to take all prescribed vaccines and dietary changes then I wouldn't go to them to let them take my temperature.

Is there any data about this at all with regard to 14 year olds? Maybe it doesn't matter for someone with her plight, I genuinely do not know.
I'm not an antivaxxer. But we increasingly learn of the vaccine's severe limitations, the data is so weak for protection to young people that it's discouraged elsewhere, and the data that the vaccine is meaningful for those with natural protection is contested at best.
The case for this, of course, would be much stronger if our country and our institutions weren't continuing to push an unnecessary and ineffective (for the subject group) vaccine on kids.

Typical hypocritical liberal organization.

Well the main one has two PhDs, one in microbiology and the other in Neuro-Oncology. He is the go to surgeon for complicated brain tumors for a major cancer center and owns his own hospital.
I think I will take his word over yours.

After reading this thread I understand the situation clearer.

Not really. After reading the reasons why. It makes sense.
I know this will be controversial on this site, but if her options are... take it and get a kidney, why not just take it? That is, if this is something that applies to everyone getting an organ transplant.
