Louisiana has checkpoints out the wazoo. Any specific reason why so many all the time? I rarely ever see them here in Texas.

Their time would be much better spend patrolling.

Then they might have to deal with actual criminals

I want to search your house. If you have nothing to hide, you’ll have nothing to worry about.

Nice to watch a couple people so eager to surrender their rights to be a boot licker
It has always been weird how us freedom loving Southerners have always accepted them. After seeing that Twitter vid of that Florida cop stashing shite on people it's even scarier.

I've now lived in the PNW coming up 30 years and have never seen a checkpoint.

easier to assert the "stand your ground" defense at your home than at a DUI checkpoint

thought the OPs point was "how do I get out of a checkpoint" and my post was YOU DONT. Go to jail, lawyer up and fix it.

Not slowing down and driving straight through it is always an option

"You will NEVER see a checkpoint set up in the getto."

This! The only checkpoint I have been through was heading south on Ellerbe in Shreveport south to Southern Trace. I was driving in from Texas and it was a Friday evening. Told my wife it was a big money grab to catch the rich folks after happy hour.

If you refuse, you'll certainly raise suspicion and then fall under an entirely different set of protocol... So, just roll down the window...

Does this fall under "implied consent" laws in most places?

Uber put an end to their piggy bank. Clear evidence it was never for public safety

Funny that you mention this; I’ve seen several police departments and police unions lobbying to make Uber illegal in their area. Specifically, because revenue is lacking. Imagine that, they are lobbying for more crime because it suits them financially. Protect and serve… sure.

Too many of y’all are ok with drunk driving. It’s very disturbing. If I told y’all I smoke weed and drive high, y’all would flip shite.

Did you know a LEO can arrest anyone for “suspicion of impairment”. Doesn’t matter if you are sober. If he feels like you are being a turd for enjoying your rights he can arrest you. Charges will be dropped once it’s obvious you weren’t impaired but arrest is still on your record.
This old phrase of “nothing to fear if you are not breaking law” is naive and stupid. Never trust the police.

all true, and the cost of going through this process will be just as costly and have almost the same impact as being convicted of DUI

Why risk your income to your family, your freedom, gut-wrenching guilt if you hurt/kill someone, and your reputation?

I would start the thinking there, not where law enforcement is protecting people from drunk drivers.

Don’t risk your freedom (or others) for your freedom.
