I seriously would see Tebow as a delivery man if he was athletically average. He really doesn't have anything else going for him.

You are quite wrong. The only debt we have is the mortgage, my vehicle (which is set to be paid off in May, and her vehicle. No student loans, nothing else. We take trips all the time (albeit vacation money is saved throughout the year so I wouldn't count that in what we live off of). We do go out to eat more often than not and do other activities that we enjoy. I specifically said $50-$75k. If you can't live good off of that right outside of Nashville, you are doing something wrong. It isn't asinine.
50k no freaking way you are doing any of that shite.

3k take home
You said a 2200 sqft house outside nashville
That house will be around 275k-300k
House note is 1500-1800

So now you have between 1200-2000 left over
Groceries 400-500 a month
now we talking about 700-1600 left over
Utilities 200
Gas 200
Cable 100
Car ins 100
Phone bill 100
So now with 50k you are left with 0$ without any going out to eat budget or entertainment budget at all

If he means after taxes he need a new way to describe things So he really lives off of about 90k combined income. That, is completely believable and normal

This last assumption is where I'll end this stupid discussion. I paid $209K for my house, not to mention the 20% down payment and the sellers paying the closing costs. That right there throws a wrench into all of your calculations and I won't even bother to prove you wrong on the rest of them. No need to prove something to someone who already has their mind set with inaccurate assumptions.

You serious? Obviously after taxes. How hard is it to believe me and my wife live off of 50-75k, never over 75k. Together we make just about $200k before taxes. If she wanted to quit her job I would be disappointed but it would not at all screw with our standard of living. We would just move some numbers around as far as savings go and not aggressively pay off our remaining debt.

A combined income of 50k no freaking way people are having any entertainment, eating out, or vacations.

You know who would have a combined income of 50k? Two people make around $10 an hour. Those couples are going on vacations and eating out my friend

When you say we make 200k, but we live off of 50k combined, that is before takes. That is how you are portraying the information. And I am not convinced that isnt what you actually meant and you are now crawfishing

Springfield isn't right outside of Nashville? I can meet you here or wherever your location of choice is. After all the snow clears up.

I agree he portrayed it the wrong way, but I just assumed he meant 200k gross but spend 4-6k per month (50k-75k) after-tax.

No way someone grossing 200k voluntarily lives comfortably off 50k gross. Also, when someone says they "live" off of it, it is a bit disingenuous because they are saving everything else, so there is no retirement or investment savings that needs to come out of that 50k. Someone who is netting 50k is going to have a hard time doing what he said he does AND making appropriate savings for mid and long-term needs.

Well yea, I assumed all of this was implied though. I can't just tell my employer to only tax a portion of my pay, at least not that I know. We take home what we take home and for day to day activities we live off of $50-75k. Everything else goes to savings, debt, and vacation. It isn't unrealistic and anyone who thinks so is sadly mistaken.

This is very believable and I will not disagree with this at all. But to be honest it isnt really that frugal either. 50-75k actual cash for spending(after taxes, health ins, retirement etc) is good money
