It was in a YouTube video description.
That isn't exactly testimony in a court of law

frick man, she got drunk and acted a fool. Who hasn't done that? It's not like she's drowning babies

True, but our actions always have consequences.
I mean we are only getting a snap shot of this chick. I mean this could be normal for her or the complete opposite of how she really is.
Either way...

Forgot to mention in the OP, she drowned two babies.

This.
Can't wait for the new viral video:

Do you honestly believe that this is her first time doing something like this? Maybe it's the first time doing this to a stranger. But it wouldn't shock me if she's done something like this in the past and people have blown this off as "Oh thats just ______ being her drunk self". My question is what do you think her punishment should be?

fricking bandwagon mob mentality losers. The chick got in trouble (probably ticketed if she was actually let go) and that should be the end of it. These figs are trying to out-ruin each other at the expense of normal people because they have social anxiety and despise regular folks. Send her some pizza and be done with it.
I hope the Mexican Mafia comes to her rescue and teaches a couple of these shitheads what ruining someone's life really means

I do not condone internet badasss behavior.
I have never taken part in it and I never will. My only point is that I can't find sympathy for her plight in this instance because of her behavior and the fact that she soleLy put herself in this position.
Also, I would figure that any professional who has worked so hard to get ahead would be wise enough to guard themselves.
I mean it sucks for her if this was just a one time deal, but just consider it a lesson learned.
Also: sorry for not quoting, but I'm on my iPad and it is a pain in my arse trying to quote on this thing.

I haven't done anything like that before.

I think the punishment shouldn't be affected by the virality of the video. I know it will be, and UM has every right to take whatever disciplinary actions they see fit.
I'm saying that without this video, even if she had got arrested, they would likely just suspend her, get her into a dependency course, or had done something similar.
Now with the video, they are forced into a corner and have to remove her from the program, and she likely has no way of paying back the 150-200k in student loans she acquired in medical school.
Unless of course her family is rich, etc. But you get the point.

I was talking about the people who are going after her trying to ruin her life

What did the police decide her punishment was? Maybe they let her off easy, but the legal system is what should decide these sorts of things, not the faceless internet mob that wants to act indignant and come out with the torches and pitchforks. If she ends up losing her job and it ruining her career it seems like that would be a PR move rather than the standard discipline for this type of situation. Would probation be the standard punishment if there wasn't all this attention? I have an acquaintance who was kicked out of nursing school for being arrested during his first year. I don't know how this compares or the details of how his case went.

Yep.
Definitely don't do dumb/illegal shite like on a crowded street if you don't want certain people finding out about the time you were a drunk a-hole.

Like I said, you can trust me on this one. She'll end up in an alcoholics program specifically designed for medical professionals. It will be a couple of years, shitty pay, and is very strict about drinking. They call you up for random alcohol tests at crazy hours and shite. It's bad, but it isn't the end of the world.

Valid point. I do agree that her program should stick to whatever their normal punishment would be.
However, like another poster said, the viral video will probably force their hand.

If she was arrested and charged everything she could have been charged with? I have no idea, but I imagine a residency program won't look to fondly on a resident who was arrested for assault, destruction of property (and if we are to believe the youtube description evading arrest, assault on a police officer).

I get what you are saying. The internet lynch mob has a way of forcing the authorities hand. I'm not a huge fan of it. But I am cognisant of my surroundings while out. Everyone has a camera as another poster said.

In a situation where there was no video or headline with the name of the program she attends sure, and that's what should happen for an incident like this. Now I don't think she'll be as lucky.
Again, not defending her actions, just trying to present two sides.
