In all seriousness, this needs to be said. Sex is amazing for depression. I'm an advocate for legal prostitution so doctors can prescribe sex. Maybe then I can get my insurance to pay for my hookers

I don't understand why it is illegal. It will always go one. It's in demand and it will always be in demand so it's not like it will ever be stopped so why not legalize it? It would generate some tax dollars, it would provide a safer environment for both parties.

Also, if we have to pay for food, it should be okay to pay for pussy...

What Bluegrass says is correct.

When you have a loved one on the brink of suicide and they take ketamine (via IV) in a clinic... and they come out essentially a "new" person, and back to normal, you realize its a great drug if given correctly.

A physician recently told me its like "rebooting the brain", and I believe him from what I saw.

I see it being over prescribed. Everything new is. However, it is truly kept schedule 1 and hence very restricted, I understand how it could help those worst cases.

Ketamine is not schedule 1 and will not be over prescribed since it will be administered in a medical office.

It's a stretch but rename ketamine and or combine it with an old SSRI. Combo med

Its not a daily use thing, it is something severely depressed people are given every couple of weeks, so yes that is a stretch. You can give a person who is so depressed they are suicidal a shot and they are when they come down they no longer want to kill themselves, it is kind of amazing. Could be huge for helping suicides in veterans.

I didn't see your post so I am not cheating, plus I wont say the names because I will be right here, but I am guessing one helps with acid reflux and one helps with diarrhea? What do I win?

You really can't understand why it is illegal? You may not agree with it being legal but surely you can understand why it is if you think about it for a few hours.

I usually don't get into these 'Big Pharma' discussion, because it's silly and usually misinformed.

People are always looking for someone or something to blame... everything but themselves.

It's easy to accuse a vague/mysterious entity like 'Big Pharma' as the cause of all your problems. 'They' made you fat, made you depressed, caused your diabetes, caused your heart failure, got you addicted, destroyed your libido, made you drop out of college/high school, got you stuck in a marriage with a loser husband/fat wife, gave your kids autism...

Yeah... sure... if 'Big Pharma' suddenly ceases to exist... will your problems go away?

Often times all your problems... it's you!!

R&D and trials cost so much for Rx that you can't just put an approved drug out to pasture.

That's a nice post.

Epi-Pen.....?

Not even really bitching, and you have a point in needing a pill for everything when you eat like or live like shite.

I certainly hope you're not suggesting Pharm companies are pure and righteous in things though.

Not so much this. I honestly did not know ketamine was already being used in psych settings as a "reboot" I would assume it's much safer and less horrific than ECT. I've only used it in procedural sedation. Works like a fricking champ. Get 10 minutes of entertainment from the patient afterward.

I've only seen one kid stop breathing. He just needed calm BVM bagging for a minute or two. Also , only one kid with paradoxical reaction. He LITERALLY tried to climb up the wall when his dad blocked his side rail.

That's just 2 out of I don't know how many? Trying to think of a number makes me feel old. Lol

No, Pharm companies like all for-profit companies want to make money... no secret.

My critique is for people who are blaming their drug addictions, depression, their inadequacies on this mysterious 'Big Phamrma' entity.

Yup. I'm learning just how many people don't really understand how the pharmaceutical industry works in here...

Not worth the time to even try.

I agree that in the VAST majority of cases people should be pointing the finger at themselves but Big Pharma is one of the main reasons there are so many heroin addicts, and dead former addicts, in our society right now. All of the execs at Purdue Pharma should have been arrested and the company should have been put out of business permanently for what they did with Oxycontin. Sure they paid 600+ million in fines but that is jack shite compared to what they made by lying and killing people. If you don't know the story behind what they did you should check it out, it is people like them that give Big Pharma the bad rep it has with so many.

Bump if not anchored.

I spoke to a doc that I work with about this. They said "its coming. look up Ketamine Clinics." There are 4 in Houston already. I believe I have found my part time job if needed.

They are anesthesiologist run for the most part. Easy gig. Checklist for a monitoring nurse....

A. Breathing? Check.

B. O2 above 90%? Check.

C. Patient trying to kill self? They were suicidal and or depressed.

D. PAradoxical reaction? Is patient clawing at the walls?

Also read that Ketalar was being used in some pain clinics as a one time $300-450 shot.

The theory is that ketamine can cure depression long term, not just while you're on it. Ive seen first hand how theraputic drugs like lsd and mushrooms can be. Im sure ketamine is similiar

Thats what this doc was saying. Research was started in NE, but fell through and got SKETCHY. They were using this on the worst of the worst cases. Many of whom were homeless. Making followup near impossible and dangerous. Evaluating and SUPPOSEDLY re-dosing some in a car.

Thats purely story, not sure of validity. But the initial study did get shut down.
