Like someone said, things happen in the normal course of healing and thinking normal healing is malpractice is going overboard a bit.

I'm normally not a big worryer with him. For some reason an extra hole makes me nervous.

Ive worked in multiple doctors offices myself, and had enough procedures to have modicum of medical knowledge. That modicum is telling me that if the hole is healed all the way around, as it appears to be, then how would it heal itself? Once healed, I thought an injury no longer attempts to rebuild itself. At least, beyond the normal mitosis and meiosis cycles replenishing the cells.

I should have mentioned. The doctor who said its fine didn't even see it. He based his decision on the description of the nurse practitioner. She was going to give us an ointment to apply to the area to help it heal, but he said no.

As far as the lawsuit, if the situation ended up calling for on. I probably wouldn't pursue damages, but would simply want the medical and lawyer bills covered. Which I feel wouldn't be too much to ask for in that situation.

Oh and yes guys, it's our first. But I'm not even half as bad as my wife is. So far into his short life, this is the only thing that has gotten me even somewhat concerned, and I'm not really sure why. Maybe because its a "guy problem".

Maybe you should consider contacting another doctor for a second opinion before a lawyer.

Doc here, not a lawyer
1) since it is a child, the statute of limitations starts when he becomes an adult. In other words, when he hits 18, he will have 3 years to file suit.
2) you are a total dbag for even having a lawsuit idea at this point. I know the personality type... shite does not just happen, you have to blame something or someone. People like you are miserable human beings. Get help before you blow your own brains out when you hit 45.

Go see another doctor not in that same office. And if they ask you if a nurse practitioner is ok, say no.

Would we then have a grounds for a malpractice lawsuit against the doctor who did the procedure? At least for enough to cover the expenses incurred while rectifying the situation? Also, would there be grounds for a "mental trauma" based reciprocation, if we decided to pursue such a course of action?

It us regarding asshats like you that are the main reason medical prices keep rising. Mental Trauma, really?

This is why I love suing the shite out of doctors, they're all crooked and anyone not doing serious surgery was obviously a dumbass in medical school, probably because they couldn't get into law school in the first place.

Good luck, I hope you sue him into bankruptcy.

Hence why the health question was first. The lawyer question was second, and was based on IF IF IF things were not resolved as the Dr said they would be. Which I clearly stated.

In any case, what is so wrong about collecting information? If no one wanted information from other people the internet, it would have never become what it is today.

Babies don't have "lasting mental trauma" from something like that. They cry when something hurts or bothers them. They stop crying when it doesn't. They are more rational than adults.

Who gives a shite if you have "grounds"? Just go ahead and sue, if you win you win, of you lose no big deal.

Remember, you lose one hundred percent of the shots that you don't take.

Dude, it was simply a question regarding the situation. I was curious, decided to ask.

In reality, I believe I would only want the medical expenses covered. Which I think would be fair given the situation, IF it were to occurr.

I hope y'all know, I would prefer the Dr be right, I just haven't started to fully trust him yet. It's not so much him, but some of the moms I know who take their kids to him. If anti-vaxxers trust him, I'm not sure we should.

Realize that the second you talk to a lawyer, (s)he is in sales mode. Always be closing.

I said if it were to be determined as necessary when he was 3-5 years old. I certainly remember parts of years, albiet hazy and scattered memories. In fact, my first memory, and this is documented in my medical records as accurate, is from when I was 13 months old.

No to the lawyer. Shite happens when you have medical procedures and it is nobody's fault. Science is not exact, even if everybody does the best job they can.

Again if you don't have a great feeling about the doc go see a specialist in this field. And if you are already worryingabout 3-5 years down the line, you are going to be a stressed out daddy. Meditation and yoga prescription for you.
