DMV does what it is told to do. They suspended his license because they were notified about it. They have no idea he got a ticket a day ago.

true, but I find it hard to believe that the DMV would issue a replacement license to a person who shows up in their system as having a suspended license.
Regardless, all state offices are closed tomorrow, which means the earliest we could go is Monday. I just wanna know if we pay the fines, is the DMV going to give him his license back right then and there.

True. But in this case, his license was suspended for an insurance lapse and not because they were directed to from a law enforcement agency. The DMV is the entity that monitors insurance compliance and the DMV is the entity that will suspend your license when you aren’t compliant. There’s no gap of notification in this instance.

That’s my point though, they won’t know he has been caught driving while it was suspended. As long as he settles up with the insurance and shows up to the DMV with proof of insurance saying he lost his license, they should provide a duplicate.

Whether he has insurance or not is irrelevant in this instance. He's driving on a suspended license, therefore doing something that could result in trouble with the law.
And as far as not paying the fine for lapsed insurance, my stepson did the same thing, lost his license for a year, had to pay off the fine, plus court costs, plus penalties for not taking care of it in the first place.
He got absolutely ZERO sympathy from me or his mom for thinking he was above the law and just blowing it off like it didn't matter.
Let me guess, he's in his 20's.....

It doesn't matter if they know he was given a ticket for DUS because he hasn't gone to court yet for that ticket. He needs to pay his fines, get his license, bring it to court showing everything has been taken care of and they'll reduce the DUS to non moving.

I've never seen them not do it, not sure what you did. The last time I got pulled over I had an outstanding ticket for DUS, so the police made me follow them to the court house to pay the old ticket and the clerk of court issued a new court date so they could reduce both tickets.

The accident while driving under suspension. Otherwise it wouldn't have been an issue getting it reduced.
