80-85 mph is not considered slower traffic. I am in Tennessee, and the actual law as of 2016 is if you are in the left lane, you must actually be passing folks in the right lanes. If I'm doing that, I'm legally and morally in the clear. 29 other states have this exact law as well. Not sure about LA.
hitting your brakes to switch lanes in traffic is unsafe.

Tennessee's new "slow poke" law went into effect last Friday. It says you cannot drive in the fast lanes of certain freeways and block traffic behind you.

If you aren't going at least 80 in the left on a highway, I hate you.

Many posters only have the attention span of the thread title.

We call those posters millenials

So someone going 5 mph faster than you is a hazard, but you're being safe as can be?

~10 mph was my metric. the difference in 80 and 90 is quite significant.

every so often on my commute over the Basin bridge, an LSP unit rolls up behind me. I let him pass, roll in behind him and go the same speed he is (if he isn't running code). Only one ever seemed to get pissed about it.

what do you think the Park Ranger was in such a rush for? Was there a forest fire somewhere that I wasnt aware of?

Or just because he was driving a white car with lights on top and he knew people he was creeping up on people that didnt know if he was really a cop or not he could haul arse in the left lane and people would quickly switch lanes because he knew they would automatically think he was a cop

you've misinterpreted the law

I'll help you out

quote:

State Rep. Dan Howell, R-Georgetown, shares your frustration. And on Monday, he's counting on at least 49 House colleagues to join him in voting "yes" on his proposed "Slowpoke Law."

Howell said he wants to promote safety and reduce "congestion, driver frustration and road rage" by updating state traffic law. His bill says motorists may not drive in the passing lane on interstates or divided highways with at least three lanes except to pass.

Howell said the idea is that motorists in a passing lane cannot impede the flow of traffic. They must move to the right if possible, even if they're going the speed limit and the vehicles behind them are speeding.

an anomaly vehicle going faster than someone who is already going fast enough to be passing, while in the passing lane, is not at risk of being ticketed. If you're passing, you're fine.

this law is specifically for those who are in the passing lane, but not actually passing.
