And I never said that. What I said is that if you have a faster vehicle behind you, you pass then get back in the right lane as soon as you are able, let the car behind you pass, then get back over to pass the next car.
We'll never know if he was doing this or not. He was in the process of passing a car when all hell broke loose
quote:

You don't just sit in the left lane because you're going to pass the next car.
He wasn't, he was passing a car
quote:

Even if you can make a pass, but a faster vehicle is behind you, you let the fast vehicle pass first
The law says you have to stop making your pass to get in teh right lane for the faster car? I don't think it does.
quote:

Ya, you can. The truck clearly had more than enough room to get back in the right lane. He chose not to do so. He was in the wrong. Period.

He was not in the wrong. Period. The "period" doesn't make your stance any more rock solid
quote:

by law he should have gotten back over in the right lane
Correct, after he finished his pass, which he was in the process of making
quote:

ETA: You're probably the type of a-hole who has an entire mile of cars behind him in the left lane because "well I'm passing" while you pass car after car by a few mph but refuse to get the frick over and let all the faster traffic behind you go past you.
You'd be wrong, but you're probably the arse hole that does shite like the car that crashed in the video. See, again, how easy that is?

Common sense and courtesy would tell anyone with a brain to get over in this situation
What?

Common sense says you have to stop in the middle of passing a car to appease someone who wants to go faster than you?

Funny that you say I'm being the contrarian but judging by the posts in this thread, I'd say it's split at worst, but more likely that my side is the majority, but keep on keeping on with the contrarian talk.

Did he really close his eyes and flinch before firing the first shot. And of course he was afraid of his own weapon, he had no control.

Although, I did like how calm he was before flinching for the first shot. No way he can successful claim he was in fear for his life.

Truck definitely accelerated to prevent the Accord from getting in front of it after the Accord swooped around the other car.

he went full throttle to block the passing maneuver (which was in itself dumb as frick)…so it’s tough to argue.
So to repeat, passing a car is 1 thing.

Him hitting the gas to not let the car get in front of him is another thing.

Hopefully that clears it up.

Ticketed for improper lane usage

The law doesn't distinguish illegal passing from legal passing. On a two lane road, you still have to let someone passing in a no-passing zone back over, even if you don't speed up or are blocking them on-purpose. You don't, and that's a failure to yield.

Driving rules are designed to be unambiguous and prioritize preventing wrecks. Regardless of what the other a-hole is doing.

Which is why you can't hit a pedestrian blocking traffic in the middle of the road, even if they're doing it on purpose and you have the right-of-way.

Sometimes yielding to the a-hole is legally required to avoid wrecks.

Absolutely. I thought you weren’t acknowledging the danger in the truck’s driving…but you are. That’s why I edited. Never OK to pass on the shoulder. Never OK to wrecklessly endanger lives to protect your position in the fast lane.

The driver of that white Ford pickup might be in trouble. He clearly speeds up and makes the bad situation worse.

I have never and will never pass on the shoulder, and I drive a vehicle capable of maneuvering much better than that Honda.

If I was on the jury…Ford hangs.

Gotcha

I don't agree with your attempted murder tag, but I certainly agree that it was some serious bullshite on his part and charges could and probably should come his way.

And the truck was also brake checking the dude. These are all issues, but I do still stand by my original assertion that he was initially doing nothing wrong and passing cars just like he should be in the left lane. And I also don't think you should have to speed up(as long as you're doing it at a reasonable speed) or be forced to brake and shimmy into a small spot on the right when you can easily finish your pass then get over.

That's the law. Slower traffic keep right. That means if you have the ability to get over, you get over. Even if you were going to pass the next car. You get over, let the faster car pass, then get back over to pass the next car.

You know that that there is also another law, right? Speed limit laws.
