The funeral homes are usually well maintained, as well.

That glorious stretch of 90 from Kinder to Dequincy seems to have an inordinate number of funeral homes.

Banks and churches.

Banks must be by Fed Law. The vaults alone have to meet certain standards (like able to withstand an F4 tornado). Not up to standard means bank not part of Fed Reserve System means no FDIC means no state banking license too.

So like one poster joked about Ferriday bank being foreclosed, can and probably does happen to some rural small banks all across the country. Just happens less with interstate banking since big banks are always looking to gobble up little ones. Big bank with deep pockets then renovates building and uses small bank to hide their cartel money laundering, non PC enterprises, etc..

Doesn’t check out.

I don’t know about south La, but in north La, Pentecostal churches are usually the nicest in town. I’ve been told it is because they are the most dedicated tithers so those churches have deep pockets.

Don’t forget about the nursing home (owned by the town medicaid pimp draining the state dry)

I got arrested in Catahoula parish. The courthouse was the only modern building in the whole town of Harrisonburg and even it was 50 years old.
