My FIL does it all the time, but he is “the boss” so I guess it doesn’t matter.

Common for me. Either I'm sampling new beers with guests or checking on the quality of the beer.

I know what you mean... I drive in BR everyday... They pay zero attention... I even pulled up next to a cop at a red light and he was texting away... Not a care in the world.........

The really bad thing is that you can almost always tell they were barely rolling, on the phone and bumped into the car in front them.

I did see one ballsy redneck 2 weeks ago who went full mental and ran from the scene. He bumped a nurse in a beater Accord which obviously had no damages from the bump. She still stopped in the middle of a really busy intersection blocked him in and held up traffic trying to get old boy to get out and wait for the cops.
Mr Truck Nuts wasn't having any of it

Yeah, all it takes is one beer for my concentration to be shot
Manage a distributor and use to drink wine all day on some days. Now I wait till about 4 to pop my first beer or whiskey pour and drink the last hour. I'm certain my focus has improved.

She did it and it wasn't a problem. Don't let some sexist boss stop you just bc you're a guy.

Does sampling the beer help you hire the best quality of waitresses?

Used to be very common a few decades ago from what I'm told but now not so much. However the firm I worked at for about 10 years it was pretty standard at lunches out and also every Thursday afternoon the scotch and bourbon was opened up in the office and cut loose a good bit. Most of the time it followed a liquid lunch and led to a happy hour or dinner "meeting" lol.

Once I'm certain I'm in the home stretch to retirement, I believe I'll be stepping up my lunch game a little.
