How do you see yourself in your retirement years? Fishing? Farming? Traveling? How do you plan to spend your days?

Working or dead.

Maybe both.

Living close to my kids and grand kids and looking forward to seeing them any day they are willing to come over and visit. Besides that, I might actually start a garden for the first time in my life...nah, that sounds like a lot of work.

This is what I'm doing. If I up to it, the wife and I will take a nice trip along with our grandson this summer.

I'm building a guess house/camp and no hurry to finish it. Garden, no thanks, I used to do that.

Also, the wife and I do take short trips now. She still works. We do have another camp that we go to, but the water has been way to high to even get to it. So, Easter we will be doing it at home this year.

I've always said I'd like to have 10 really good years after I retire to do what I wanted to do & when I wanted to do it; fish, golf or restore a 60/70s muscle car.

Traveling mostly in the civilized World not in an rv with my SO
Fixed it for me.

Eventually (as I age) it will probably get down to travelling the US/Canada by car with her.

Also, I have a couple of (small scale) engineering models of projects orobjects I've been associated with professionally that I want to build.

Maybe learn to work with precious metals.

Rebuild a few more small mechanical things.

Build a stone architectural folly on my property.

Maybe teach archery.

tl/dr: Answer the phone when/if I want to.

I would also like to be able to have a really nice workshop/garage to tinker with whatever projects so that may have to be reserved for the winter months.

I have asked many business owners, who are my customers, why are you still here 8-12 hours a day? Let your sons/managers take over. Their reply almost always is, " I would be bored not running this business". Then they will ask me "what are your going to do in retirement." My reply is" listen, I've been traveling two/three weeks a month for many years and if I never see another airport, hotel, rental car or restaurant again, I would be good with it. I will simply just fish, golf, drink and frick". They say "you will get tired/bored of that within the first year". I say "well we just have to see, but I seriously doubt it". 8-10 more years and can't wait to find out.

I type this in a hotel in Nashville. First Waffle House, then rental car facility, then airport, then home, thank goodness.

Have been there for four years. Best job I've ever had. The best thing about retirement - there are no more Monday mornings.

1) "Work" from home

2) Travel a lot

3) Eat out a lot

4) Drink a lot-I mean moderately, that's the ticket

4) Buy toys

In other words, pretty much what I do now.
