Dude. You didn't read the study.
The study allowed unrestricted water consumption for the NNS beverage group.
They just had to also drink at least 24 oz of a NNS beverage.
JFC.
They needed to record overall fluids intake for both sets.
The way they did it doesn't account for the possibility of a difference in mentality between a diet soda drinker and purely water drinker.
If you wanna believe it's impossible that the diet soda drinkers cut back on total fluid intake (due to drinking sodas) that's your right. But the study does not confirm that.
Regardless of what the soda companies funded study showed, I'd rather take the extra 2 kilos of weight and drink water than drink diet soda and I promise the health benefits of that would be better.

Yep. Completely optional.
And it's not "fruit". It says "froot" right on the box.

Did you not see the blood markers in the study? Just because “you promise” doesn’t make it true. The blood work doesn’t lie
And here we go with the..well in was paid for by big such and such
They had nothing to do with the research!!

Weight loss isn't an indicator of better health. I can promise that water is healthier for you than diet soda

#1 yes it is
#2 did you not see the blood markers which are an indicator of health. Tell me where cholesterol, Bp, resting glucose etc are better
Or better yet explain what health markers you need to see that means it’s healthy
frick yall, yall got me in here advocating for something I don’t even drink because yall are zealots for shite yall don’t even practice

You must think bulimic people are the healthiest people in the world.
Losing more weight does not mean you are overall healthier than someone else.
There are so many different health markers you can use. I'm sure the soda companies that funded this study would leave out the ones that showed the water only drinkers being healthier

Haha talk about a straw man, of course there is a limit, don’t be stupid
Being in a caloric deficit is one of the biggest things to improve blood markers for overweight individuals
And don’t crawfish on the blood markers tell me the ones you would like to see that weren’t included that are universally used to monitor health and stop making shite up as you go because of your feelings

If that is the case then how come people can keep a whole bag of sugar in their house without going crazy but those addicted to cocaine can’t?
Ever heard of people sucking dick for some sugar? I haven’t but have heard of plenty of cases of that with crack and cocaine

you continue to bring up weight loss as the end all/be all of overall health.
what does it matter if you lose an extra 2 pounds drinking diet soda if you get cancer or diabetes from drinking them?

It wasn’t two pounds it was 5kg and you didn’t read the study
And if you are going to make claims, show your proof about cancer and diabetes. Don’t just make claims, back them up
But you can’t because there is no studies showing that

At least daily consumption of diet soda was associated with a 36% greater relative risk of incident metabolic syndrome and a 67% greater relative risk of incident type 2 diabetes compared with nonconsumption (HR 1.36 [95% CI 1.11-1.66] for metabolic syndrome and 1.67 [1.27-2.20] for type 2 diabetes).

Controlling for age, sex, race/ethnicity, education, smoking, physical activity, alcohol consumption, BMI, daily calories, consumption of protein, carbohydrates, total fat, saturated fat, and sodium, those who drank diet soft drinks daily (vs. none) had an increased risk of vascular events, and this persisted after controlling further for the metabolic syndrome, peripheral vascular disease, diabetes, cardiac disease, hypertension, and hypercholesterolemia (HR = 1.43, 95% CI = 1.06-1.94).
Cancer.gov has a whole page dedicated to the links between artificial sweeteners and cancer

it's your risk to take, but water is absolutely healthier.

This accords with what I posted earlier so I didn’t bother reading any of the observational studies you posted.
