In my experience, developers typically don't build homes. They put in sewer, power, streets, draw lot lines, etc. Then they sell lots to actual home builders, who build " cookie-cutter, vinyl eyesores popping up everywhere that look even shittier after five to 10 years of crappy upkeep."

This. I think some of them run for mayor just to get additional contributions even when they know they won't win Mayor.

Do we want to support economic growth and improving the housing situation or would you rather Louisiana continue to suck and everybody live in crappy apartments anyway?

I mean... what do you want? We can't all afford half a million dollar homes in the highest net worth zip codes. Nobody forcing you to buy a Horton home. I wouldn't either.

We need a two button meme for voters

1. The government shouldn't be involved in what a private landowner does with his property. Government overreach is killing this country!

2. Someone should really do something about people building these cookie cutter, small lot residential subdiviions and giant apartment complexes. The lack of developmental oversight is ridiculous!

Most people are for small local government that actually represents them. They are against being told what to do from say Washington DC or Great Britain.

Right now there are over 500 listings in BR under $500K per Zillow. I check it often and there is never any shortage of homes for sale in BR.

Got a bid back yesterday for a 1700 sq’, two story. It was $400k, granted the drawings are from Southern Living Magazine but still.

From plot map 6300 -6700 sq foot lots for the most part. 60x105 lots give it take. So every house on top of each other…..

There ain’t no economic growth baw. Developers get tax breaks, incentives, and the money goes out of state. The extra property tax “disappears”, and infrastructure will be overwhelmed. Yuge problem statewide.

I don't get why so many people just don't understand that this is what some people PREFER.

We don't do a lot of outside stuff, so I much rather have a small yard that requires minimal upkeep.

I never see or hear my neighbors unless we happen to see them outside.

Then get an apartment or condo. Otherwise what’s the point?

Besides the fact that it's MY house and way nicer than any apartment or condo?

1) Wanting to build equity rather than pay rent.

2) Wanting to take care of beds and yard but not several acres of other land.

3) Not wanting to pay thousands a year in COA fees or risk emergency assessments for deferred maintenance.

4) Not wanting to share ownership of important infrastructure with dozens or hundreds of other condo owners who may or may not be timely paying their own dues.

5) Wanting to live in or near a particular part of town.

6) Wanting to get to know and enjoy hanging out with your neighbors.

7) Not wanting to rely on a landlord or property manager for maintenance and repairs.

8) Wanting a lot more square footage for your money than you get with a condo.

Huge lawsuit against them for mold. Their houses apparently cannot handle Louisiana humidity.

Seems like that's all of these new developments now - garage in the front, houses right on top of each other. I hate them.

The part that caught my eye was this part: "According to the commission’s application summary, the subdivision will include 53 four-unit lots and four common area tracts."

What is a "four-unit lot" ?
