The design, designed by Forrest Daniell & Associates, P.C., resembles that of a well-known high-rise condo building along the Alabama gulf coast, called Turquoise Place. In fact, Forrest Daniell & Associates designed Turquoise Place, which is one of Orange Beach’s premier condo towers with condos sold for millions per unit. “It’s the right time…,” says Cliff Guidry. “We have proof that we can do it,” as Guidry references a recent project in Alabama, Atlas condominiums, which sold 38 units in 5.5 months, totaling $66 million, before breaking ground on the project.

This will happen right after Trump International Hotel and Tower in New Orleans goes up.

And there's nothing about the location of Turquoise Place that would draw investors or buyers that is any different than downtown lafayette

Id say you have a better chance of dying from covid than this actually being built
So 0.00350%

Is this the lot next to the federal courthouse? If so, kind of a weird spot for it.
I guess any spot would seem kind of weird to me though since they haven't built any tall buildings in a long time.

Yes. Right adjacent to the Federal Courthouse. I think this gets built. It helps me out as we have property right next to it

I’d put the chances of this happening at about 12%

We all know how much people from Lafayette love Turquoise Place

Lafayette's downtown is very underrated. They have some cool places down there.

Good luck.
I don't think this thing ever gets built.
There's already available commercial space downtown that building owners can't fill.
I don't see how they're going to lease out enough offices in something of this magnitude to where they could make a semblance of a profit.

I would not bet on this getting built.
Nationwide, downtown office occupancy is on a downward spiral, hastened by COVID.
Downtown buildings are empty all over the place. Lafayette is holding its own, but we may never see another oil boom.

Don't care what it looks like it as long as Burger Tyme comes back!

Consider me skeptical as well, happy to see the progress if it actually happens but don't necessarily see a need currently.

Same. Downtown was not even on the radar.
It was the Strip, Scandals, Poets.

But there seems to be an effort to gentrify that area, as I've read stories about complaints from "locals" who naturally want it to be a shithole forever. The area over near Evangeline Maid seems to be a main target.
