Downtown Houston hotel choices?

Weekend with the wife. Relax, food, beer, nights out.
Hotels. Lancaster vs. magnolia?
I am leaning toward Magnolia.
Where should a gentleman of 42 and his wife enjoy an evening? Music, but not a CLUB.
Thanks in advance Jeeves.

I've used the magnolia twice and loved it.
Nice rooftop Jacuzzi with a great view. And very centrally located to eat and bar crawl.

Magnolia.
The square in sugar land is where I like to hang out. Has various bars, the flying saucer is really cool. There's also drink Houston which is 5 clubs/bars in one building. You might find something you like there. See can you get in at the indoor skydiving place in NW Houston, forgot the name of it. Good set of bars down town near the ball park.

I'd prefer Magnolia, I used to always stay at Hyatt but there's decent walk between there and anywhere that can be a bit long at night.

Ikon was very nice. No complaints. Just looking to hit another place.
JW is fine too.

ZaZa or Houstonian. ZaZa has an awesome pool scene and superb service. Trendy asthethetics. Houstonian also has a great pool and the facilities are top notch. Service is as good. Can't go wrong w/ either place. Enjoy.

Houston's at Kirby and 59 for a dark, romantic kind of dinner if you want to bed the wife after.

ZaZa isn't downtown but that's where I'd stay with with wife. If downtown JW

Magnolia and catch some Jazz at Sambuca or Red Cat. The piano bar at Vic and Anthony's is a good spot too.
If you think she'll be in to it, you can take the wife to a burlesque show at Prohibition.

Did red cat move? It's old spot (I think) is now a bar called OKRA Charity Saloon.... Pretty cool spot actually.

I like the Hilton Americas downtown

Yea, Red Cat moved a couple blocks north a few years ago. Okra's a great bar. That whole area is full of cool and diverse bars, but I figured they may be a little to young/trendy for the OP and his wife.
