FYI - The left lane is an exit lane in that area, which is part of why things are so arse backwards on that stretch of 110.
Doesn’t help that traffic can back up horribly from Government and the other exits (Laurel?) which is why people avoid the left there.

Yeah, them any anyone else who has experienced that abomination. One of the dumbest things I have ever experienced in my life.

Would be incredible if they did this. Crime would also drop sharply as it would be more difficult to cut & run back to the hood

I still do not understand why trucks in the left lane getting off the bridge have to immediately feel the need to merge to the middle lane.
Actual answer: because traffic is entering the interstate on the right. Any time there are 3+ lanes, most of the trucks are going to be in the 2nd lane from the right rather than the far right lane for this reason. Truck congestion in the far right lane makes it a lot harder to merge which creates hazards and makes people do stupid shite. If all the trucks were in the right lane between Acadian and College it would be (even more of) a nightmare.
Right before you get to Dalrymple, there is an EB on-ramp from Washington that (like the on-ramps going WB in that area) doesn’t have a “merge lane” at all. I don’t think there’s much traffic getting on I-10 EB right there though, and that’s the last on-ramp until you get to Acadian since right now you can’t go EB from Dalrymple or Perkins. So the trucks could probably wait until they get to the lakes to get in the middle lane.
But that’s why they do it, anyway.

Good, it’s retarded how the plan for the widened I-10 still has a Washington Street exit after the opened up the exit on I-110 south.
Now that there’s an exit on I-110 south there’s no reason for there to be a Washington St exit because if you’re coming over the bridge on I-10 you can take the highland rd exit to get to the area. If you’re coming down I-110 south you can take the new Washington St exit. Whoever made that original plan for the widening is a dumbass.

The main problem is the merge. If the two lanes flowed, there would be a major difference in traffic

Why don't they just do it? What's all this, "They want to do it?"
Maybe with Landry in office, he will just bite the bullet and get it done

It needs to be 3 full continuous lanes off the bridge and around the turn. The widening schematics I’ve seen only have it as two continuous lanes, which will still cause backups due to traffic volume.

quote:That was the plan all along. I guess the I110 southbound Altimas, Chargers, Camaros and Mustangs don’t want to give up the opportunity to pass up the NEW Washington St. exit and cross 3 lanes of bumper to bumper traffic to use the OLD Washington St. exit?
