Don't Go to Sleep

ETA: I scared myself making this thread. I keep hearing sounds and I keep looking behind me. Know I have to go to the bathroom. Damn it.
ETA2: I made it back to my room. But I can't shake this feeling that I'm being watched. And I keep feeling a cool breeze on my left arm. I assuming it's the A/C, but I'm not sure.

It’s the ice machine.
It’s always the ice machine. Relax.

We traced the call. It's coming from inside the house.

You do know you're going to Hell for that?

Do you ever wake up and see a really ugly, pox covered guy, with Meth teeth, and really bad breath, dressed in dirty clothes standing beside the bed, smiling as he watches you? Whatever you do, don't let him touch you. He will try, but he is slow, until he gets his hands on you. If you shout at him and he will back away long enough for you to get the light turned on and then you should be ok. Until the next time. Once he finds you, he will not stop. Just remember, whenever you are sleeping, he is somewhere close, watching for that special moment.
Some will say it happens most often during the Demon's hour, between 12:00 midnight (The last prayer call of the day) and 1:00 am (the first prayer call of the day). I don't believe this. I think, once you see him the first time, from that instance forward, he is always close. I will not try to tell you the Demon's hour isn't a really dangerous time.
Good luck.

I had a rental house once where about 6 months in to my lease a neighbor told us that someone killed themself in the garage. My ex would always leave the light on in the garage so every night when I eventually went to bed, usually pretty late, if walk around to make sure the lights were all off and the garage was always the last thing I checked. The light switch is in the garage so I'd always have to reach in to turn off the lights and always had a creepy feeling that one night something was going to grab my hand.
I know it's silly, but just one of those things I couldn't shake.

Years ago, I went to work In Chicago, and found lodging in an old house with a little old lady and several other tenants. It was a big house, three stories, probably built in the 1800s. Really it wasn’t bad, a bit drafty, but cozy. All the weird sounds I heard were easily explainable, except for one weird thing.
The washer and dryer were down in the basement. You’d open the door after a flight of rickety stairs and then there was this one, lonely light bulb.
Sure it was flickery and old, with a little loop at the end of the pull string that always made it seem like it was going to break. But the weird thing was every time you’d open the door, it would be swinging, back and forth, back and forth. Like someone else had just turned it off.
I explained it away as a trick of the wind. Maybe the door opening caused a draft. But when I was down there I’d always have this weird feeling that something else was there.
Well one day we got rained out and my curiosity got the best of me. I started asking the other tenants about the basement, but they all didn’t know or were tight lipped. Except one old man. He told me that years and years ago, the old lady who owned the house and had gone to visit her sister for a month. Her husband had stayed behind. When she returned there was a horrible smell.
The found him badly decomposed, hanging in the basement. From the same rafter that light bulb hung from today.
So then, I got this crazy idea...I went down into the basement. The light was swinging, like always. I tied a tiny noose in the pullstring of the light, and then turned it off.
I went and hid in the corner by the Washing machine. A few dim beams of light filtered through the dusty basement window, making it barely visible.
After about 10 minutes, I heard a faint sound. Rustling and creaking.
I saw a wall panel shift and slide, then a dark figure slowly emerge and slink across the Dusty basement floor.
The bulb started to slowly swing, back and forth, back and forth...
The shadowy figure reached up, grabbed the little loop, and pulled it.
I was momentarily blinded when the light flashed on, but when my vision adjusted I saw something terrible. Something I will never forget.
Holding the little noose, and crying, was...
JUSSIE SMOLLET!!!
