Donaldsonville hosts an annual Shemp Festival that pays homage to the often forgotten 4th Stooge of the '3 Stooges"

I could go for some good, greasy fried chicken right now.
Their OMV never has a wait either.

Not many here will get that reference.
Grapevine is a good restaurant but I'd drive a little further to go to Hymels.

I prefer Leader's, but I'm a blasphemer.
Leader's does these crawfish poppers which are crawfish bisque battered and fried in a ball. Legit.

Where's that at?

There are two locations:
One in Gonzales on Burnside at Cornerview
The other near the big curve on 431 at 931.
Their chicken on the bone is just pretty good. Their chicken tenders (really like popcorn chicken) are awesome as are their sides and fried fish.

I still can't get over how the Ascension parish jail is in a really random spot near this town. It's just right through some country arse fields and bail bondsmen having sheds set up around there.

Me too. I had some Leader's when I was home for the holidays, it was so good.
I like Leader's more than Chef's, but we're talking about Donaldsonville and West Ascension here and Chef's is the best that side of the river.

My Grandparents lived in Donaldsonville on River Road. I recall many family vacations down to Louisiana to see them and other family. I remember a great bakery named Dims I think. Had the best glazed donuts I ever had.
