Agree. I should have read the article. I assumed it was some PETA type BS by some posts before me, and they were just upset about the weather.

I love these posts with people talking about how well their cold weather bred dogs can handle... cold weather

They gonna give these pits to a "responsible" owner that is a 26 year old 110 lb girl and it's gonna eat all the neighborhood babies. This gonna be like those stories where you hear about a guy getting out of jail for armed robbery and then immediately murdering someone.

My dogs are mainly inside dogs but when the temperature is between 40’s and 60’s I have a difficult time getting them inside unless it’s nighttime.

Do you think that people only have dogs in warm climates? What is this notion that if it gets a little chilly a dog is gonna turn into a pupsicle? Of course there are different breeds but many breeds LOVE the cold. The come from wolves after all. Deep down they are WILD ANIMALS. If they perished at the slightest freeze they wouldn’t exist.

Well this is just silly. #1, it ain’t even all that cold. #2 many animals absolutely love this sort of Weather, or it doesn’t bother them. It’s all contextual. You can’t say there’s “absolutely no reason”
Kind of like the Bill Burr bit
You're right about it being contextual, but it really depends on the individual dog when it comes to cold weather; not if the breed itself is bred for it or known for cold temps.
I have two German Shepherd/Collie mixes (called a Schollie
The female can sit out in the yard all day and watch the world go by when the weather is 90 or 30 degrees without a complaint. She can literally stay outside for 12 hours straight in intense heat or cold, and still wants to go right back out as soon as she comes inside.
The big 90lb male with long, thick hair can't stand the cold and starts shivering and whining when it's anywhere less than 50ish outside. We've tried to condition him slowly but he just can't take the cold for some reason, it's strange how polar opposite he and his sister are.
It's a dog-by-dog basis when it comes to which can stand the bitter cold, even when they have a shelter to retreat within like mine do. They also aren't chained up with 3 feet of heavy chain around their necks and left there open to the elements, but some still can't stand the cold with that much.
I've always felt like the people that need to chain dogs up like prisoners simply shouldn't own dogs to begin with, why is that so hard? If you can't give them the normal life of a dog and have to resort to 3' of chain tied to a post in the ground, simply don't have dogs. It's easier to not have them.
It all boils down to the fact that some people just don't care about life outside of their own, and those people shouldn't own dogs. If they're such an inconvenience to you that they have to stay outside chained within a 6' circumference, why have them at all?
It's cruel.

Yeah the whole issue is how the dogs were being mistreated, not that it’s cold. But it wasn’t framed that way.

WIth reading nothing more than the title I am going to guess they were pitbulls.

Don't be a retaded pussy. Several breeds are made for cold weather and it's far more abusive to own them in the deep south than to let them be out in the weather they're comfortable in.

Welp Mr. BK my 90 pound lab, 3 cats and pet duck all made it through the 30 degree weather last night outside and are as happy as can be.
Anyone else have pets survive outside last night?
