Does Your Wife Work?
Yes

Does she make more than you?
Yeah, but for right now we are kinda close.

Does it bother you?
Yeah, it pretty much does bother me.

Yes, no, I fricking wish. She's a teacher. Her salary is basically our entertainment/vacation money.

I just don't understand the "women aren't equal" stuff. The men she works with make the same or less than she does.
I certainly haven't put much effort into researching, but I'm fairly certain there are countless studies showing that women in the same fields with relatively similar education/experience make less than men, so I don't know what's not to understand.

I worded it the way I did because I know the OT would slaughter me as a power-happy husband. My wife knows her place and knows mine. We are heavily involved in a church that teaches a woman's place rather often and the roles of the man. We both try to live the way were taught and it's working out great for us.

That church sounds awesome!!!

I'm on the low end of six figures and absolutely need my wife's income. Vehicles, high arse insurances, mortgage, and my kids tuition would be tough to get paid out and still have "extra" money at the end of the month. I think we could do it if needed but I'd be sweating at the end of the month knowing that I didn't have much left over and wasn't saving shite. The wifey isn't far from six figs so we are pretty fortunate.

Unless you mean the really low end, like $100-$125k ish, you should be able to do/have all of those things on just your salary.

Very hard but she doesn't have a job, f that's what you're asking.

Does she make more than you?

She should but I can't afford that.

If she did, it wouldn't. If she made enough, I'd quit my job.

The gender gap does not exist.

The HOURS WORKED gap however,,,, is real as frick. Simple math lesson, if you make the same hourly wage, but work more hours --- your check will be bigger. Men average more work hours per week than women.

I have been RVP and RD for two very large corporations, and District manager for 2 others. I have my pulse on corporate America across many different industries. I have hired and fired LITERALLY over 1000 people in my illustrious career.

and there is NO PAY GAP. If the job starts at $42k-$45k, that's the fricking range. There is no "male" range and "female" range. The job pays this much....period. I'm going to offer you what I think you will accept. If I think you are a fantastic candidate and don't want to risk losing you, Ill offer the max. If I think you are making far less and will take anything I offer, I'm giving the minimum offer.

But guess what --- male or female ---- can accept or negotiate. If I offer both candidates $42k, and the woman accepts and the man says, sorry I need $45k to join ---- STATS will look at this as PROOF of inequality. But it is far from the truth.

Sorry for the rant! I left corporate America over 3 years ago but it still pisses me off hearing lie after lie about inequality. Real inequality ---- being forced to promote people for diversity reasons versus merit. That is TRUE INEQUALITY.

To the OPs topic - My wife works when she wants, and makes good money. I make a lot more than her but would certainly be happy if she brought home more. Who wouldn't right? Only a pathetic insecure man would actually be upset that his partner was making more money for them to spend as a family.

You do realize that a company will pay someone what they are willing to accept to work for them. So if women get paid less than a man then all women would get jobs over men. Not only that, men would be underemployed. Of course don't let economics and real life get in the way of some bull shite narrative you've never questioned because people keep repeating a lie.

Yes my wife works, no she makes about 25% of what I do and I wish she made the same money as I do. Yes, it bothers me that a RN doesn't make any more than she does.

The not so subtle humble brag is in play on this one.

Well said. Also, another factor with the so-called wage gap are the industries to which men and women gravitate.

Yea, if you're a nurse and not making much money, that's on you and you're doing it wrong.

There's plenty of money to be made.

That's cute that you think every business in America would act frugal like that.
