They buy us a small gift. Our bonus hits in March and mine is 15% of salary if the company is doing well.

What's interesting is, the idea of not getting a Christmas bonus was so crazy back in the day that they included it in the plot of a movie.

I feel like it's not common these days.

My wife (no pics) and I went out for the executive team Christmas dinner last night. $200 meal, $100 gift card, and announcement that the retreat next fall is in Colorado. The owner does a ton during the year to show his appreciation. We have access to the corporate jet for a weekend every year, a week at the lake mansion, and the company provides a stipend for a new car every 5 years (and pays for the gas/maintenance for it).

I'd rather it be like this than how the Fortune 500 tech corporation I used to work for did things. We had a 300 person party where we sat with people we didn't know, charactature artist drawings, and they drew tickets for a lot of useless crap. It's interesting how your prospective changes with age...at the time I thought those parties were awesome.

My company is a small family-owned firm-- about 35 employees all told, about 2/3 of them that actually in the office, the rest out in the field.

Every Christmas we have a nice dress-up Christmas party at the country club; full sit-down dinner, open bar, jazz trio playing.

All regular employees throw in to buy the 3 owner family members each a Christmas basket.

In turn, the firm owners give every employee a $100-$150 restaurant gift card.

In good years, non-executive employees may get a cash bonus of a couple hundred dollars or so.

The executives (like me) have built-in end-of-the-year bonuses based on how your department performed over the year. There is a "floor amount" you get even if your department lost money (roughly equal to one bi- monthly pay check) but in a good year it can be equal to 2, 3, or more paychecks.

One year boss told us the company made record profits because of our hard work.
Gave us each a ham for a bonus and no raises.

My neighbors dog ate my ham.

my company gives us a laurel, and hardy handshake for Christmas
I think of that line from 1973 every time I pass this sign on I-59.

Someone in the MDOT sign shop thought they were clever in the late ‘60s when they designed this.

Not "Christmas" bonuses. Year end bonuses. Both STI and LTI bonuses. This will be the second year I qualify for both.

Performance based end of year bonuses. Nothing to do with Christmas.

There is a pool of money, and there are identified people. We back calculate a % of those people's base salary that fits into the pool of money.

This year was 6 people receiving a 7% bonus.
