Our needs a new set of pads every 30k miles. That’s over twice as fast as I’ve ever seen a vehicle go through a set of brake pads.

Same experience?

German? My wife's Q7 didn't get much more than that and I expect similar for the Q8. These vehicles stop and handle like much smaller vehicles but that comes at the cost of tires and brakes.

I drive the boy to travel ball practice...and it’s almost over forever! The day he finishes this stage of his life I will rejoice. One more league game, and the final four...and it’s over.

Our Ford Edge does if we get the cheapo pads. Haven't had that problem since we started getting the higher quality ones.

I hated travel ball. The boy broke his arm one spring and missed an entire season. We did a lot of fishing and boating and that kind of stuff. He's 21 now and says that was the best summer of his childhood.

Amazing to hear the child's recollection of those travel ball days. Honestly kids don't know any better when they're involved in sports like that at such a young age.

Let an injury or a family issue come up where they don't have to live travel ball 365/24/7 and they actually enjoy being a kid for a change.

My son starts high school football on Monday, got his pads and a helmet yesterday, and he’s so damn excited. Travel ball can’t hold a candle to school ball.

Yes, Wife's X3 M40i was about due for a set of brakes around 30k or less and we just went ahead and bought the extended maintenance plan that covered brakes and everything else besides tires. Got a family deal on the maintenance plan so saved some $$.

Your wife is one of those people riding the arse of the car in front that clearly is in the line of cars passing and can't go anywhere, yet the brake lights are coming on and off like hazards because she can't just maintain a steady speed.

Are you making that determination, or is the repair shop telling you?

What make and model is your SUV? Prior to the flood, I had a Dodge Journey, and that damn thing ate both front and rear brake pads for lunch everyday. I had two complete brake jobs done (front and rear simultaneously) in roughly 65,000 miles before the flood took it out.

Going back further, I had a '99 Dodge Pickup with the 360 engine (instead of a standard 318), and because of the weight over the front wheels, I had to change the front pads for the first time at 19,000 miles.

I know this sounds like I drive a vehicle hard, and am late to get on the brakes, but I assure you I'm not. Some vehicles just seem to be more susceptible to brake wear than others. And I've had the "luck" of picking several of those.
