1) Gumbo is a stew. It's certainly not a soup.
3) Wikipedia Port of South Louisiana is basically Baton Rouge down to the Gulf. I'm not sure why our ports get lumped together like that but it frequently is. When you look at most lists of "busiest ports" they simply rank the number of containers coming and going, and by that metric Los Angeles is #1. In total tonnage, Houston and S. LA are waaay above everyone else as the wikipedia page shows. I guess the South Louisiana port system deals with more things like oil/gas tankers and other non container cargoes.

Having grown up in the twentieth century in south Louisiana and eating gumbo prepared by family members born in the previous century, I can assure you that many of those contained no okra. Whatever the origin of the word, it is not now and has not for a long time only applied to those made with okra. There has, in fact, been a debate for some time as to whether the word is derived from the African word guingombo which means okra and the Choctaw word kombo ashish, meaning sassafras, which is used to produce file'. Most do agree that the African origin is most likely.
But I do like okra in gumbo quite a bit.
