I'm not sure about twitting and instagraming. I just don't find a use for it.
Can someone explain what the following means?
During your visit, be sure to tag your photos and videos with #insertnameofplacehere (I deleted the name of the place)
so that they may appear in our online photo gallery.
Is this a reference to twitter, facebook, instagram or all the above?
How does one go about doing that?

# is always twitter, except when it's not.

Facebook and Instagram. When you tag someone in a photo it's added to their gallery they are tagged in (similar to Facebook) Instagram also uses hashtags

Dumb question alert...
That "tag" has to be their exact username, right?

You have to copy and paste that to your Geocities page

I'll be nice:
When you #hashtag (ex. #LSUvsAuburn) a post on twitter, instagram, or even facebook, it allows a user to search that specific #hashtag (in this case #LSUvsAuburn) and see what people are saying/posting about a certain event.

You could probably get a lot more information using a search engine like Ask Jeeves or Alta Vista

You just type the #insertname into the text of whatever you post, for example on Instagram

Had a great time at so and so #TDChristmas2015
Then, it throws all the pictures with that specific hashtag attached into a big group so you can search the hashtag and look at all the said pictures. It's pretty easy and I see a lot of people doing it for wedding and other parties.
