There’s a reason that Houston has such a gigantic LSU alumni base. And you hit on it.

Yep. Have a few friends that live there now. Better jobs, better quality of life, those with kids don't have to shell out $$$ for private school. Can drive the 4-5 hours and go visit family back in LA for holidays or catch an LSU game.

And it isn't just Texas...

Friend of mine moved with her family to Las Vegas over a year ago like a few months before the big flood (she had lived in BR/Central area all her life). Her husband was offered an amazing job offer there. Huge increase of pay. I can remember her being all excited about the money they will also save by not having to pay private school tuition for their girls(think she said they were paying like 12-15k a year for them...two girls elementary age). Made it easier for her to be able to stay home longer until her youngest son is in school. They live in a nice area of Summerlin and half a mile from a great public elementary school. She can walk with her kids to school every morning/afternoon. Something she would have never been able to do if she still lived in BR/Central.

Me too. If it was still the 1800s.

There's a reason the good folks from North Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia left..,

Louisiana must have VERY shitty public schools. Because public schools are often what people cite on here when they move to Texas, but there aren't many than 20 high schools in the entire state that I would want my kids to go to. They are either very overrated on here or Louisiana public schools are that bad. I'm yet to figure it out for myself.

All I’ll say is I spent 26 years in Louisiana before moving to Houston (now I live in Austin), and if I ever have to move back to Louisiana I will commit suicide.

I spent my first 33 years of life in Louisiana before moving to houston and I feel the same way as you.

Oh btw BR still doesn't have a loop.

In one year, 114 Tollway is almost done and they have widened the DNT from the PGBT to 635 and are now widening the PGBT even more.

Everything is four lanes!

This entire week my mom has been visiting and trying to find a way to stay.

If you like building architecture, just drive through North Dallas and see it all.

Not only that, but you actually see your tax dollars at work. Can you frigtard La cocksuckers say the same thing?

I would vote down most of these too knowing half the current budget is being stolen and half of the road bill would be stolen too.

I vote against all these things. I'm trying to instill discipline.

Our government is so corrupt and disfunctional at every level, that basically anything “public” is completely unusable.

Our entire local and state budgets are devoted to graft, filling useless unfireable jobs for campaign contributors, and paying teachers unions to do less than nothing. Our whole state is taxed to the hilt to pay for 100k people to do nothing while collecting a pension, and 1k people to steal the rest.

As someone who graduated from one of the best public (non-magnet) schools in the state, I can attest to this.

Andrews, Texas, town of 12,000, saw the benefit of a loop and had it built in 2013.

That's pretty sad. On the upside, if the OT is to be believed, you can buy a house in a baller neighborhood in Shreveport for about half the price or maybe even a third of the price of what it would be in Texas.
