You do realize that you aren't being forced to use Google, right?

And I really enjoy those threads people start here asking Chicken why he has ads for dildos and such not realizing that those ads are populated using their search results.

I am still wondering what I have searched that causes me to get the environmental add that shows a picture of a turtle who's shell has grown around a dog collar or some shite.

I haven't clicked the link in 6 months....give up, Chicken!

So the only way to be free of surveillance is to stop using the internet and ditch our smartphones?

Do you use Chrome? The ad block feature removes all of that nonsense from my screen.

the reason for this thread is i purchased this phone from Google Fi

It runs on Googles network. I am now getting bombarded by ads and emails since activating this phone. I did not have as many issues when i was using my good ole Sammy S5

By your definition, apparently.

I feel pretty free, and I have no problem using those services.

Did you have a problem with the FBI telling Apple to hand over its security keys?

That's not entirely true. Did you have a gmail account when you got your S5? If so, when you powered up your phone for the first time it asked for an email/account name (Now Samsung has their own account program). I promise you that you were being tracked and receiving notifications back then. But they were probably being filtered to your "Promotions" box of your email.

I have an S6 and google sends me notifications about things I would be interested in or things they think I would be interested in.

Not in that specific instance, not really. I'm also fairly confident that no one will have any interest in randomly hacking my phone to spy on me. I'm just not that important. And if someone is actively spying on me, hello. Sorry your job sucks this bad.

This all reminds me of some Sci Fi movie I watched years ago. As the guy was walking down the street, billboards and ads would change to things specific for him. I think we are almost there now.

Come on, you know exactly what I mean.

But alas...

As long as you aren't on the arse end of Zola's Algorithm you have nothing to worry about when it comes to Project Insight.

I think it would be pretty interesting if we made certain peoples google search history public. Mainly because people google some weird arse shite nowadays.

It was not my words that were in the comment about free speech and employers. Maybe someone else said it?

The original comment I made was in reference to everyone getting upset over politically incorrect things. There was a time when these kinds of comments were less offensive. That was the root of

Isn't in the same ballpark as what you quoted by the way.
