Holy shite these things are everywhere. I don’t even understand how they make money in some of the places they have business

No. Didn’t see one in the NW at all.

They are profitable by innovating payroll management by staffing each store with 3/4 of an employee.

I know driving up through Arkansas to Missouri on 65 you go through all of these little towns with 200 people but they have a Dollar General. I guess it's where everyone shops unless you go to town.

I went into a “ DG Market” today. I was curious. It was abysmal.

They can charge more and it makes sense for the small town people to pay than drive 30 miles to the Wal Marks

We have a DG and a family dollar/dollar tree combo on opposite corners. This is in a “town” of about 450 people.

My parish has around 16k population and we have three of them, along with a Family Dollar. One of them is in a community of about 300 people.

The negative of DGs is they drive small town Mom & Pop groceries out of business

TBH there weren't that many mom and pop stores left any more. They mostly take business from WalMart. They're usually located near to one, if not adjacent. It's easier to pop into a DG if you just need a few things.

Not gonna lie, I’ve been thankful to see a DG sometimes when out in the middle of absolute nowhere.

However a couple of years ago I read an article about the impact DG has on small town M&Ps, & the drastic measures some towns take to try to save them.
I linked it in a previous DG thread if you want to search for it.
