Honestly, Sears doesn't have a whole lot longer to go as a store - it might survive as an online brand, and the sub-brands, Kenmore and Craftsman - but Sears as an anchor store operation will not last into the 2020s, IMHO.

Too bad for Sears in a historical sense.
I think they sold the Craftsman tools marque to Stanley Tools according to a news report last week.

Unless it's torn down, something will always be there. It's too big and in a heavy trafficked location.

Sears still exists as a going concern?

It'll be a Baptist church by 2020.

I worked on it during the Summers of 75 and 76 building it. Before that the State Fair was held there after it moved from the downtown airport in what is now Independence Park.
No asbestos used in building it and it was renovated extensively around 1990. It will end up as some sort of storage industrial type with call centers, school etc...type business.
I would think Hispanic or oriental type business would work well.
The one torn down on the outskirts burned a few months ago. Not sure if it was the old Bennigams or not.
