I remember a store closer to the Amphitheater where we would get our scantrons and a coke. Not sure if this is what you're referring to or do you mean attached to the stadium?

Yep, I lived in East Stadium in 85-86. I used the laundromat weekly. Believe they also had hot sandwiches there too. I got cancer around 10 years ago and i blame it on the asbestos that I inhaled that year. Could hear Mike the Tiger most nights with the windows open. KLSU was around that area too between East and South Stadium.

Give the guy a break, that was back when 8 out of 10 doctors recommended smoking Marlboro Lights

How is that not a thing anymore? That could have been renovated and an absolute premium charged for football weekend condo rentals. A condo rental and two parking passes next to them? Think of what a revenue stream that could have been.

The guy that ran the place was mostly blind
He was blind. That was part of a still running program called the Randolph Shepard Vendors of Louisiana. It places blind people working in snack shop/vending/cafateria types of buisnesses in state owned properties. Obviously its no longer there, but there are those types of businesses running in state facilities across the Louisiana.

It was there in 1979.
I also remember the ticket office being on the northeast side of the stadium or at least a ticket window.

Pretty sure I saw Curley Hallman buy a pack of Zig-Zags there once.
Now it all makes sense

It was there in the 80's when my dad and I went to games. Not sure when it closed down. My dad is blind and still in that program today - he knew the guy well.

Yep, it was attached to the laundromat. When I lived in Hatcher Hall, that’s where residents could go wash clothes and grab some snacks (late 1980’s)
Hatcher Hall graduate from the late 80s checking in.
Good times.

The radio station was in the stadium in the late eighties correct? It's in the basement if Hodges now which was a dorm back then. Mass Comm building now.

I lived in North Stadium in ‘83-84. I went in that store all the time. That’s also where I washed my clothes, as they had washers and dryers in there.

It was Deaf Valley Shell, corner of highland and W. State. Used to air up my bike tires there as a kid.

Yes. I used to pop in there on occasion to get a snack and some smokes. It was on the east side of the stadium and run by a blind guy. They also sold pre-made sandwiches and you could get a "sausiage (sic) po-boy" for something like $1.50.

The place you're thinking about was in the basement of Foster Hall and had an awesome pulled pork sandwich also, during Lent, amazing seafood gumbo. I think it's a Subway these days.

My era as well. Never knew this little place existed. I appreciate the nostalgia.
Hard to imagine that there was no such thing as bottled water as recently as then. You could only buy soft drinks.

When I lived in Hatcher, you could buy pitchers of beer in the bar in the basement on movie nights. Good times.
