Came in here to post this —
Glass of water. Cover it with a thick paper towel. Double layer it if you have to. Drink the water through it.
It works every single time I’ve ever done it for the last 20 years.

About a year ago I had a bad case of hiccups that lasted a couple of weeks. I had a prescription for Tizanidine, a muscle relaxer, for back spasms. Somehow I got the idea that maybe they would work since hiccups are an involuntary muscle spasm. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try. Marthafocker, would you believe it worked. I have probably 20 left from that script and will keep, them around just in case.
I’m not a physician and wouldn’t recommend you take my anecdotal evidence as gospel. Consult with your doctor before taking any meds.

I know someone who has had them for 3 years and been to hospitals all over the country and had surgeries.
Good luck!
Good luck!

I second what cubsfan said - spoonful of creamy peanut butter.
My wife told me once and I laughed it off as an old wives tale. But I finally tried it after a particularly long episode and it worked within seconds. It has worked every time that I have tried it. Maybe a dozen times over the past 20 years.

Stop up your ears and drink water through a straw

Good grief. I had them for 17 days straight back in 2006. It was awful. Mine was due to ulcers. Dr put me on Dexilant and the problem went away.
Sometimes, drinking Mylanta will do the trick, too.

Two things have worked for me. One is to get a glass of water, sit down, bend over, and drink from the “opposite” side of the glass, as much as you can. Usually works for me. I also heard of drinking a spoonful of lemon juice. I tried it and it did work. Good luck!

My math teacher at Brother Martin, Mrs. Bandera, had a cure-
She would call you in front of class and say you need to hiccup now and right now.
Everyone got so nervous they couldn't.
I saw it happen often, cause I was lazy with math, had her 3 times as a math teacher.
