Looking at SUVs to purchase or lease now that we have a baby that’s almost 1 to make my wife’s (no pics) life easier. I know that the Explorers 2017 and back have had multiple issues but I haven’t seen anything bad about the 2018 models.

Any feedback is much appreciated. We have looked at other SUVs but she either didn’t like the look, the drive or features of a couple of them but she likes the explorers.

TIA

No thanks, Rover man here. Far better than American made vehicles.

We are on our second Explorer of this body style and have not had any issues with either.

I think they are a bit bland but they are comfortable and have been reliable. The only thing I don't like about them is the sync system, a touch screen on a moving vehicle seems stupid to me.

A minivan is what she needs. That would make her life easier.

If you want to drive a police vehicle, explorer would be a great choice.

In all seriousness, if you are going to use 3 rows, take advice from me. Buy a SUV with walk thru captain seats. It's impossible to get to the third row in a explorer if you have child seats in the middle row. I tried to warn sister in law, and they failed. I watched her get into her own vehicle thru the hatch area to get into the third row because she had kids in the second row and her parents were traveling with her and her husband.
I have had a Acadia and a enclave, and they (also some traverses) have walk thru middle row

My mom got her 4th Explorer 2 years ago. 2017 AWD Explorer Sport Ecoboost. It’s honestly pretty fun to drive for what it is, but it’s been in the shop more than it’s been out.

Power seat wouldn’t move forward or backward so there was no way to adjust the seat. Front camera quit working, front parking sensors stopped working, ac stopped blowing cold on one side, problems galore. They’ve all been fixed but she has said this will be her last Explorer unfortunately.

She has this option and it’s pretty nice.

So according to you the Explorer has a history of multiple issues including the 2017 model and you want to buy a 2018

Highlander here as well. Third row mostly stays down but we have the option of putting our older kids in the back if it’s more than just my family in there. Third row isn’t for adults so the small walkway through is fine.

I have a 2015 Explorer. Like it but backup camera goes black randomly. Dealership wanted 600 to replace. That ain't happening. Hood paint is bubbling around the edges. A very common issue but Ford will not acknowledge it and fix it. Was a Ford guy but will not buy another.

We have a 2016 Explorer Sport. The eco boost is the real deal but gets terrible gas mileage. The ride is ok, not great. It has held up very well... Now at 36K miles. The look is really cool.

I recommend it.

I have a Ford Explorer as a work vehicle ant it has been a damn good vehicle. I see it as a good middle ground between the comfort and drivability of the Chevy products and the power and ruggedness of the Dodge Durango. I have about 100K on my 2014 explorer and have not spent a single penny on it except for routi e mice.
