Does anyone here know the backstory of Joe Guy Jr, arrested in Baton Rouge?

And he's charged with the horrendous murder of his parents in Knoxville. Reason: they were going to stop funding him, or so the article suggests. The linked Daily Mail article has more than the local media up here had (unless they were trying to keep the jury pool unfamiliar with his butchery.)

I remember the story. I think that whack job lived off of Brightside in Sharlo or somewhere around there near LSU.

Guy has mental issues. Parents had been supporting him. They finally got tired of paying his way and told him he was on his own. He drove up there and killed them before chopping up the bodies in an unsuccessful attempt to hide the crime. Made a mess of it, gave up on it and returned to BR. They found the bodies and arrested him at his apartment. I think he confessed.

I lived about 5 houses down from where his parents were murdered in Knoxville.
After he murdered his parents, he cranked the central heat up to max and locked their black lab in a bedroom. Fortunately, the dog did survive.
His parents were great people. We chatted often during evening dog walks in the one-street neighborhood.
