So you are asking how to illegally get your kid in a school not in his/her district that you don’t pay property taxes in. That is stealing and would take a seat from a kid who actually qualifies to be in the program. Unbelievable.

That's all I hear. I wouldn't want to do anything illegal, I was simply asking more if they would or could make an exception.

Then move into the district and apply to the program. That is the process.

If you really wanted to be on the up and up you wouldn’t be asking anonymously here. You would have called the school and said, “I’m so and so and I live in Gonzales, but I think I’m special so how can I get my kid into your school even though we don’t qualify”. You know you wouldn’t like the real answer they would give you, so you are “shopping for answers” here instead.

I'm sorry to have offended that one poster.

It's a good school, but they're not going to waive the residency requirements for you. In order to apply to any magnet school, you have to submit 2 proofs of residency (like bills from the last 30 days).

You could always try BRIS, or move to BR by the fall. (Magnet school application period is usually October-December.)

Nope.


One only good thing I can say about EBR schools, is that the (real) magnet schools are protected by a close eye. Especially when it comes to making sure the kid is a true resident.

I’ve seen many times instances where a young elementary school kid enrolled in a magnet program does an assignment and writes down their real home address as part of it. Teacher goes over the assignment and sees the non-BR address and has to report it. Investigation happens and the kid is pulled from out the school. Textbook Zone Hopping. You see it ALOT in elementary schools.

High school not so much b/c the kid knows if he/she opens their mouth or writes something different, they gonna get kicked out and sent back to their zoned parish school.

Yes and no you can't get around the residency thing unless one of you teaches for the magnet schools and anyway if your kid was in it this year you would be doing this all at home. I can not imagine how you can do an immersion program for French or any lang at home for kids.

So is the parent I know and she is still nervous to do virtual school. She has 3 going to FLAIM (K5, 1st and 4th). The first day of school for Kindergartners is in part French/ part English. After that it is 100% French or whatever language your kid is in. Every subject is in French except for Grammar class since kids still have to learn correct English grammar.
