The arse backwardness of this whole situation?

CDC estimates from October 1,2019 through February 29,2020
, there have been 34,000,000 -49,000,000 flu illnesses, and 20,000 to 50,000 flu deaths.

But we have a pandemic with mainland China being the worst Country statistically (but starting to improve there) with cvirus cases at 80,793 and 3,169 deaths, and the US at 987 cases and 29 deaths?

By your stats alone the Caronavirus has a death rate of .03%, so far, while the flu has a death rate of .0005 - .001 %

It is screwed up that more people die in car crashes than the CV-19 will kill.More people O.D. on Chinese Fentanyl than Chinese Corona Virus.More people will die from the Flu.

And on an on...

you forgot to move your decimal...
29/987=.0293 or .03 which when translated to a percentage is 3%

Shhhhhh. Can’t do that it won’t prolong the OMB based panic. Hell, we can’t even extrapolate the denominator to show the mortality percentage being only slightly higher than the flu and we especially can’t highlight that the vast majority of the victims were already weakened by another health issue.

Nah, you’re the first one to crunch these numbers and this is the first time this thread has been posted.

Thank you!

2018 US population is 327.2 million. ceteris paribus, according to the current data, at a 3% rate of deaths-to-cases ratio, 9,810,000 people could potentially die from covid-19...

quote:

It’s estimated that about 10 million people in the United States (3.6 percent of the population) are immunocompromised.

This article was published back in 2008. I don't think that 10 million people figure is too far off of the current immunocomprimised population in the US.

Hard to argue facts... but I know you probably will anyways!

It’s no math question, there’s no unfound variable we are looking for, the answer is right there, even if the stats are off a bit, it’s common sense that tells you...”this is retarded”....
But what the heck, I can try to do some simple bawometry real quick, my calculations tell me ....that someone voted for Hillary, is a pencil pushing bean counter, and sports a Bernie 2020 sticker on back his/her Prius...?..

Any non-dumbass realizes the total cases are exceedingly more than reported. Thus using the total "reported" number to calc a % is stupid.

No, you're the first to bring up a false equivalency with the flu.

As is your true character revealed also, for having continued reading AND responding to that post after my using of the nonexistent subject of bawometry.
