Jesus Christ people this tech isn't as harmless as you're all making it out to be. It fundamentally shifts how human beings interface with reality. If from the time you're born you're always surrounded and immersed in that constant connection, you get dependent on it and that's why you see a bunch of young people at tables typing on phones but not interacting with each other.

Limits are necessary now and will be even more so as the tech gets better and becomes integrated with VR.

fricking think you morons.

Funny, because all it took was reading the OP to find the kid that thinks he knows what kind of parent he'll be and is judgy of actual parents.

No shite. The world is changing. Your kids will not have the same childhood you had, and why would you want them to? Kids have access to so much better things today than even 10 years ago, why would you not want your child to benefit from that?

I don't know shite about parenting but I do know enough to at least consider the implications of the most powerful tech the world has ever seen.

Cocaine is awesome.

Cocaine is not healthy.

If this is supposed to be an analogy to children using technology, you may want to just let your wife handle raising your kids.

That was gonna be the plan anyway so I have time to do cocaine.

But seriously if you don't think that going forward fully immersive video games/porn are gonna frick some kids up then you're pretty small minded.

Because we all know kids were never fricked up before tech came along.

I definitely won't document every step my kid takes on the internet. And yes, I judge shitty parents.

I agree. VR is going to cripple social interaction beyond repair.

It will be far more widespread than video game, internet, and tv addiction.

Teens aren't much different now than they were 2-3 decades ago. It's just the older we get we like to bash the younger generations just like my friends and I were bashed in high school during the 90s. If anything adults are worse about being on their phones constantly than kids are. I see teenagers at restaurants or ball games still mingling and laughing like we did in the day while mom and dad are looking at their phones.

I've got 4 kids, 2 are teenagers and the kids that text and do stupid shite all day on their phones are usually made fun of. Kids still play outside and do all the same dumb shite we did, it's just adults are too busy on the internet to realize it. I'm responding to other posts, not OP.

My nephew, that has kids, lives in Virginia. I'm glad his wife posts lots of pics and vids on FB because we don't get to see each other often. My nephew is in the Navy so it's how he keeps up with them while he's deployed. My parents look at FB every day to see their great grandchildren. It's a really nice way to keep up with family.
