4th of July falls on a Saturday this year too. That means many will have the 3rd off as well. Extended weekend, extended celebration. I'm Thursday off too. It's going to be a great time.

Ole Jimmy was elected that year, but didn’t take office till Jan of 1977.

My bad, I associated the bicentennial quarters I played with as a kid with the him in the late 70s/early 80s.

The high holiday for my family is the Fourth of July. It was my grandma’s birthday.

After my grandparents died and my dad and all of his siblings were grandparents, they decided to stop doing family gatherings on Christmas and Thanksgiving and have the annual family get together on the Fourth of July.

I haven’t been in 15 years. It’s a 12 hour drive and they’re campground people. I’m thinking of going this year. With the 250th, it should be the ultimate white trash throw down. Splurge on fireworks for the nephews.

despicable Redcoats

Watch The American Revolution by Ken Burns. Fantastic. Both sides were brutal. Real look into how it all went down. Great series.
