We’re breaking dodgeball down to the “life lesson” level?

In my experience the actual good athletes didn’t take dodgeball serious. They were proving anything and didn’t exactly want to leg the poor nerdy kids or girls

It was the next level down that went all out like jackassess. You know the guys that played “club sports”

Not in my experience. Good athletes like competing. That doesn’t mean they enjoy smoking the nerd in the face though.

Well to be honest, these days someone is there protecting people from everything - including themselves. It’s conceivable someone could now live their entire life without learning how to deal with life being unfair. It’s absurd

Dealing with it would be choosing to focus on your strengths correct? WHixh would be not playing. What life lesson does forcing an unathletic kid to get smoked by flying objects teach?

I get what you are saying, but taken to its extreme your position could suggest that people just don't do/try what they aren't good at naturally. That's not good either. I'm fine with kids not being forced to play dodgeball but caution that the mentality of not making kids do/try things they aren't good doesn't exactly foster an environment of challenging and bettering yourself whether physically or mentally.

ETA: I don't think this "slippery slope" argument is far fetched either. We see it happening a lot today.

I’ve talked with guys who have never once been in a fight. In their entire lives. It surprises me every time.

I’m torn. I usually hate the pussification of America.

However, I attended a public school in N. LA. There were always a few 15 year old dumbasses in the 8th grade. They were too old to play team sports, but they could de-capitate a 7th grader durning P.E. with an overinflated ball.

Don’t make kids do anything they don’t want to.

I am fine with making kids do PE and other things they aren’t good at. I don’t think it’s a bad thing to not make a kid get pummeled by a ball

The only problem I've seen with it is when they mix boys and girls classes. 12 year old boy vs 12 year old girl can lead to parent/teacher conferences. I wouldn't want to be stuck teaching PE that week.

Yeah. Never going to happen.

Operating on the notion that, ‘if everyone is a weak arse pussy bitch, no one is’, is fricking pathetic. You’re good enough to succeed or you aren’t. That’s life, not just dodgeball.

Before long it will be bullying to give kids grades. Or make them turn in assignments to pass. Or give standardized tests. Or deny them admission to whatever college they want.

Western civilization is just hellbent on becoming as weak as possible. The flaming fig that wrote that article needs to have his arse kicked.
