Well, in front of the scenes, the government is adopting fuel efficiency standards that are essentially killing off the V8.
My V8 Challenger does quite well. Much better than my husband's F150. It's not the fuel efficiency killing the V8.

challenger are just about the only thing that can halfway pass for a muscle car today.
Definitely the last thing with any resemblance to classic muscle. Camaro tries too hard for the innovative sporty look and it just doesn't do it for me.

Smaller engines with turbos can do better in the EPA mileage testing. So, real-world mileage (and reliability) takes a back seat.
You're right. I hear some of the newer V6s are bad arse and likely what I'll end up with next, but it's still a sad day for the V8 and that rumble.

I guess we won't see a redesign of the challenger after 15 years
Unless they name their electric car a challenger or charger (like the mustang)

I guess charger would sound like an electric car name

White trash will have to find a new vehicle (I know brothers like them as well, but there is a trailer park thats all whites that I pass by often and if you look down the street its looks like a charger dealership).

If the major automakers shut down lines for gas fueled vehicles, the used car market for gasoline powered cars will explode (figuratively).

I must have the worst taste in vehicles. I usually couldn't care less about what car I'm driving, but the few times I actually take an interest in a particular model, it goes the way of the dodo bird. Whether the Fiero, Amigo, Element, del Sol, or Challenger, the end result is always the same.

Can’t imagine what the wait at Buc’ees will be when they convert from gas pumps to charging stations. They will need their own power plant for each location!!!

This just doesn't seem like a good business decision.

It's really puzzling, even for a 35 year old white guy (not their target audience per-se).

Dodge sales were going down the tubes before they reintroduced the Charger and Challenger, it's been their bread and butter since 2013 when they both came back. And since then the Charger has become the go-to for fleet sales to police departments, I can't begin to imagine what sedan with hefty horsepower they might mass order now.

I had a 2015 Challenger RT and it was genuinely the best built car I've ever owned as far as reliability and build quality, aside from my current Tacoma. They're made fun of a lot around here since the... urban youths... took a liking to them, but I can't begin to understand this decision from dodge.

It seems more like they just ran out of ways to keep refreshing them and their body styles in the years coming, and less a practical decision

The Charger, Challenger, 300 were all based off the Mercedes E-class chassis, and suspension. Best thing that ever happened for dodge was when Daimler bought them.

They integrated the hemi engine, and corresponding transmissions onto that chassis to make them what they are.

Now owned by Fiat...........
