Pediatricians are often the idiots of their med school class.

My class turned out mostly women, but most of them were wildly competitive applicants.

You're better off getting an early appt before they are too far behind.

And how many parents call and urgently want to be fit into the schedule so their child can be seen...

About 350?

Seriously, if they run behind 120 minutes every day, adjust the schedule for next week/month/year.

They charge about $1500 per hour. If we could bill them that for our time that they waste we would see them put a little effort into getting it right.

And for the parents that have emergencies, there are urgent cares and emergency rooms available. Use them.

My old doctor always overscheduled and was routinely two hours behind, so I left.

Now he's turning the back half of his practice into a pot growing, testing and sales business. That man can sniff a dollar a mile away

Parents bring the child in for one thing...then proceed to list a bunch of other issues concerning them. The pediatrician is in a tight spot of wanting to discuss these with the parent but also realizing this is eating into other people's appointments

Isn't that smart for a parent to do?

Why pay more co-pays when you are there now? I'm sure with rising health care more parents realize they should be using their time wisely.

Maybe don't schedule your kid's appointment the week before xmas when school is out.

Like every other parent did. Schedule it when school's in session

Yes but when one parent does that....goes into the next patient's appt time. And so on and so on.

Not saying there is anything wrong with that...but people need to understand that their actions as patients/parents also directly influence the wait times.

No, it clearly isn't.

Physicians need to understand parents usually take time off of work to see them, and not book so aggressively.

It would be great to be able to deduct from the bill for every half hour late

I like it when I’m obviously the first appointment of the day and it’s still late

So when it has been proven over time that it happens every damned day, schedule accordingly. It is not that hard.

Supply and demand. It's cold and flu season. It's going to crowded at Pediatrician offices.

Ah, to examine this from a game theory perspective is very illuminating.

They still have a business to run...and expenses and employees to pay. And insurance and medicaid and medicare reimbursements get worse and worse so they have to see more patients now to make up for it.

Don't get mad at them...get mad at the insurance companies

I understand. My ex and I always did it but like ordering food we always were efficient in communicating our concerns and never tried to monopolize his time.

If the actions are wasting time and being needy I get it but if it's just because they ask about other concerns in their alotted time then I don't. You're paying for that time. If I get 10 min I'm going to use the 10 min I paying for.

I can be the first patient in and still be delayed. It's nuts

Running late is normal. Need more doctors and much more competition
