Stop taking so many patients if you can’t handle them. There is a such thing as scheduling. Appointment was for 3pm

Just walked to the back at 5:05

Pediatricians are often women.

Pediatricians are often the idiots of their med school class.

Now you understand.

You go to the poor clinic? I usually never get called back even 1 minute after my appointment time.

Looks like the people with shite insurance got mad.

Our ped is generally 45 mins behind morning or afternoon. I thought that was bad.

And how many parents call and urgently want to be fit into the schedule so their child can be seen...ESPECIALLY since we are in flu season?

This is where NPs and PAs have value to the average schmuck like me, can walk right in to see one usually on something I could diagnose myself if I could get the prescription without seeing someone.

I don’t have that problem at our pediatrician. And he’s one of the most popular in town.

Was actually there today. Called back right away and seen right away.

Tell the good doctor - " my time is just as important as your time, why are you always late for appointments?

Quit putting these doctors on pedestals - being a doctor is their J O B - my job is just as important.

Go in the morning. Afternoon appointments are a huge mistake. The lateness carries over throughout the day and gets significantly worse. They’re only 15-30 minutes behind in the morning if you’re one of the first patients. Basically they go and drink their coffee and take their poop before they take their first appointment

Yeah the afternoon rush is for idiots who have kids who "can't miss school". 10-11:30 are the best times

This.

I would imagine it is worse with pediatrics as well. Parents bring the child in for one thing...then proceed to list a bunch of other issues concerning them. The pediatrician is in a tight spot of wanting to discuss these with the parent but also realizing this is eating into other people's appointments.

I can't imagine the shitshow that is a pedi office right now.

Everyday sucks at my ER. More than usual suckage.

I'm drinking an Emergen-C right now. Just out of fear. Every person I see has the same shite.

It's tough. If they're consistently that far behind and not spectacular, go somewhere else. But the complexity of the patient cannot be predicted until they are in the room. This is the worst time of year for kids in particular. A parent's complaint of "cough" not infrequently turns into a new diagnosis of asthma and a hospital admission after an extended stay and attempt to treat in the office.

There are offices that only ever run on time. They usually don't offer walk in or same day appointments and you are on the clock while you are there. If a short appointment time is important to you, you should seek an office similar to this. But it's near impossible to be both on time and offer same day appointments by the nature of the beast.

A 2 hour delay is miserable, but there are a lot of very valid reasons why it could happen. There are also a lot of less than stellar reasons as to why they're so late. Speak with them about it and let them know your frustration. If that answer isn't sufficient, see someone else. Relationship is nearly as important as competence in most of medicine, especially in pediatrics.

You can choose to see a physician who is ALWAYS on time or you can choose to see a physician who is willing to see you the same day walk in when you or your child are sick.

You can chose to a see a physician who is ALWAYS on time or choose to see one who has the experience, ability, facilities (EKG, XRAY, IVs, wound care supplies, lab, casting material, etc.), and willingness to handle multiple complaints and procedures (often unkown to the receptionists scheduling the appointments)in office at the same visit.

You can see a physician who is ALWAYS on time or see one who is willing to sit down and spend twice the allotted office visit time with a patient grieving loss, twice the time with confused elderly patients, twice the time with the concerned and question heavy family members, twice the time with the scared child, three times the time with the suicidal teen, and four times the allotted time with the direct admission to the hospital so the management is correct.

Yesterday I started the day with 25 patients on my clinic schedule @0800 and ended by seeing 43 and had 5 no shows.

Today I started with 22 and ended seeing 38 with 3 no shows.

Both days I rounded on my 5 hospital patients (2 of them my clinic patients) prior to clinic starting.

At most I was 1 hr behind schedule yesterday and 35 min behind today.

It all depends on what you value.
