And the thread title says "intentional". How did they prove intent? Did the guy confess to things?

I was involved in the arrest and prosecution of a very highly respected ENT Surgeon. On arrest, for dealing in meth and pills, he actually thanked us. His words -
"I operated on people high so many times it was just a matter of when not if I killed someone."

This reminds me of a Louisiana neurosurgeon that had a lot of patients die on the table. He got fired from the hospital at which he was working.
However, even though he had several outstanding malpractice suits he was still allowed to practice in other states.

I'm guessing the shite he did was so fricked up that it had to be intentional.
Driving drunk may mean you're swerving all over the road but if you make it a point to run over random people, that's your bad wiring and not booze responsible for that.

Reading thru other articles, with more info on his emails, it sounds more like a serious God complex/narcissist who was emailing while on cocaine, than an actual intent to kill someone. A completely incompetent surgeon on drugs. One article talked about him screwing up all the time even before the email about killing/death. Sounds like they let things slide during residency because his research/"invention" was bringing in millions of dollars in grants.
ETA: not saying he doesn't deserve to be criminally charged and convicted.

Such a bizarre story. What happened with the anesthesiologist in the room? Or the surgical techs, or circulating nurse, or the radiologist who read the films, or hell even the rep who brought the implants? So many questions.

I read a few other stories on this, and I wasn't under the impression he harmed on purpose.
More so, it was due to drugs, alcohol, and being generally unstable. Still, I wish he got the death penalty
