If you aren't switching your circuit breakers off then you're playing with fire and gambling with your life and you deserve what's coming to you.

I usually unplug the water heater after a shower.

My water heater is gas. I blow out the pilot light, but it makes the house smell like rotten eggs.

How would I know? I've never been in the kitchen. I shall inquire with Hobson as to the toaster status.

we never do it, no one i know does it, but its a good practice since its wide open electrical inside and if a utensil or water gets in it you can have sparks or get shocked

Our toaster goes into the toaster cabinet when we are not using it. So yes, it is unplugged

This.

All of our appliance (toaster, food processor, blender, etc) go under the cabinet when not in use.

Both my wife and I hate clutter, so we keep our counter tops free of all unnecessary stuff.

The coffee pot sits in a place of honor on the counter in the butler pantry so it is mostly out of sight.

But back to the idea behind unplugging stuff. Why? Are you afraid it will short out and cause a fire?

Do you think it's leaching electricity and running up your bill?

The wife unplugs the toaster without fail if everyone is going to be out of the house for the day.

Why she is o.k. with leaving a suspect device plugged when we are home and sleeping is a mystery solvable only by the logic of the better half.
